Chapter 49

From that day on Kyle became an angry, cold man. For years after Sam had left he searched for her, he had even hired investigators to search for her but she was always one step ahead and they never could find her.

A month after Sam had left, Kyle moved back to his house but was constantly reminded of the times they spent there until he eventually sold it and invested into a hotel. A year later he began living in one of suites which he had designed identical to the one Sam and he had stayed in at the Hilton. And every evening he would sit on by the pool and remember Sam. It had been years now and yet he remembered her scent, her body, her laughter and her smile. As as every day since she walked away from him and left him heartbroken, the pain never went away.

Sam moved to Trinidad for several months and then went back for a short time to Atlanta just to set up her bakery business so she could manage in from Trinidad and give birth to her beautiful daughter. She then sold her house and she moved back to Trinidad permanently and ended up opening several other branches of her bakery throughout the Caribbean.

Seven years had passed and Kyle still hadn't heard or seen Sam, it was as though she disappeared but then again he knew she promised that she would. Kyle and Joe were on their way to the restaurant at his hotel where Kyle lived to celebrate Sam'sbirthday as they did every year since she left.

However, as soon as they entered, they were immediately called over to a table that Richard was sitting in with a cute little girl. Her hair, her eyes and smile made Kyle remember Sam.

Kyle it's been so many years! Let me return a favor that you did for me several years aback when I had no one to eat with! Have a seat! Richard said and pointed to the empty seats.

Kyle looked at Joe and they sat together.

We were now on our way to the bar Richard, this is my friend Joe!.I'll skip the meal and just have a drink since we're about to celebrate a friend's birthday! Kyle said as he called the waiter to order their drinks.

So how have it been Richard? Been years since I heard from you! I see that you have a family now, that great! Kyle said as his eyes fell on the little girl at his side.

This is my daughter, Summer! Summer say hi to my friend! Richard said proudly

Hi daddy's friend's! The sweet voice said and cused the three men to all laugh.

Hi Sweetie! Kyle and Joe said in unison.

Do you have kids now Kyle? Richard asked

As a matter of fact I do! I have a son who's seven! Kyle smiled and took out his phone and showed him some pictures.

Your daughter is quite beautiful by the way! She looks like a friend I had known some years ago! Kyle said to Richard as the little girl smiled at him and he smiled back.

Speaking about friend,  I believe I owe you a hell of lot more than dinner and drinks! Richard said and smiled broadly

Me? Why is that buddy? Kyle asked and laughed feeling confused.

It's because of you I met my wife and Summer and even though it took a while to find her, I've never regretted it one day. Not even waiting for two years period it took to take her out! Richatd joked and the men began to laugh.

Wow two years is a long time to wait to take someone out. She must be something special! Joe joked

Kyle knows how special she is, they were friends! Richard said casually to Joe.

Kyle you don't remember who I'm talking about, do you? Richard said eagerly

Don't remember who? Kyle said confused but instantly praying it wasn't Sam but instead one of the women from his random flings he had over the past years.

Your friend you introduced me too some years aback, well we got married in the Caribbean two years ago! Richard said smiling proudly.

I'm telling you Kyle, I owe you tremendously as I've never been so happy in my life. She's feisty but perfext for me! Richard boasted as he beamed with happiness.

Today is also her birthday! Ah, here she comes from the bathroom, you'll understand when you see her! Richard said as he got up and waited for his wife to come to him.

It was only then that Kyle's eyes fell on Summer who had began playing with a ring on her chain around her neck and he began to instantly feel dizzy and nauseous. Immediately he bent his head to gather himself and seconds later, he smelled her same floral scent before he even saw her. Joe quickly nudged him and it confirmed his greatest fear had come true!
