Obtaining the Obelisk

Fanny had no way of knowing that besides 'Knight of Divine Punishment,' he also obtained nicknames like 'Divine Messenger,' 'Child of Disaster,' and so on. However, it seemed like 'Knight of Divine Punishment' was still the most popular among them, especially on the internet.

Fanny cursed whoever came up with that name, handed out the daily dose of 'Sumire Karaage Rolls,' and finally started his training.

His last battle ended with a tragic battlefield. It was because Fanny wasn't strong enough. If he could bring them to the Mirror Dimensions, there wouldn't be any casualties no matter how many of those robots exploded.

Unfortunately, the spell to conjure the Mirror Dimensions required a profound understanding of obscure dimensional magic. It could be said to be the second most difficult and taboo spell after time manipulation. Fanny was still nowhere near that level.

Fanny went to find Ancient One after finishing his daily training.

"Teacher, I heard that Thunder God had been banished by Odin. Is that true?"

"You are quite well-informed!" Ancient One carefully sipped her morning tea. "He almost broke the peace treaty between Asgard and Jotunheim, so Odin wants him to come to Earth to temper himself."

"So we just leave him be?" Fanny was curious about Ancient One's indifferent attitude.

"What would you have preferred to do?" Ancient One returned his question, "Do you have any way to help him correct his character?"

"How could I have one?"

Fanny was a little embarrassed. In his opinion, Thor was simply too full of himself. He needed a little harsh love to understand his mistaken path.

Thor had been undefeated through many battles, unequaled among his peers. Odin's education had failed to prevent him from misunderstanding the nature and purpose of his strength.

For this kind of reckless muscle-brained man, Fanny felt that the best solution was to be even more reckless than him and beat understanding into his head.

As long as he experienced what it's like to be weak, all problems would be solved.

As such, Fanny agreed with the actions taken by Odin so far. Thor's divine power had been sealed, and he was thrown to Earth, where he could experience both strength and weakness.

Then, he would have to work hard and be hungry... Well, he didn't starve his body. He was just emptied of all strength he used to command and forced to make decisions he wouldn't face otherwise.

Unfortunately, Odin was still too doting. This temporary setback might have changed Thor for a moment, but it couldn't truly make him grow up.

In the original plot, Thor's character only started to mature when Hela appeared and took almost everything from him.

Fanny gathered his thought and stopped talking about Thor and the Asgardians. He instead asked questions about the Mirror Dimensions.

Fanny had given up on the secret of astral magic, but the ability to enter the Mirror Dimensions was one of his original primary objectives for joining Kamar-Taj. He needed to obtain it no matter what.

At the same time, after returning to SHIELD, Nick Fury contacted Coulson immediately.

"Did you find any special people near the hammer?"

"There are currently no abnormalities, sir. Is there a problem?" Coulson asked through the phone. He vaguely sensed something wrong in Nick Fury's tone.

"Have Barton keep an eye on the hammer. Report to me immediately if you find anything or anyone out of ordinary." Nick did not tell Coulson what Fanny said; he was still unsure whether this information was real or not. It would not be good if it misled Coulson's judgment.

He then looked for the object that Fanny needed, using his authority as a director. It was a silver 'obelisk.'

Nick Fury frowned when he reviewed the information about the item.

There wasn't much on the record about the use or purpose of the item, but it was incredibly dangerous. It could kill a normal person simply by touching?!

Nick Fury hesitated a little. He didn't want to give away such a dangerous item to Fanny without knowing what he planned to do with it.

But he also wanted to know about the hammer. Compared to its imminent threat, the 'obelisk's' danger would only manifest when Fanny used it.

Nick realized that there was no abnormality in his body despite his intent to renege on his promise to Fanny.

"Is there a distance limit?" Nick began to doubt himself, "Or is there a condition to trigger it?"

Nick also considered if Fanny was lying to him, but this was a gamble with his life on the line. He might be courageous, but it's better safe than sorry.

There was also the matter of Ivan Vanko. There were already too many doubts in his heart and too many things to investigate with his little time.

Fanny's strange and unpredictable apparent omniscience strengthened Nick Fury's suspicion about a mole inside his organization.

Nick thought about it in the office for a long time. He ultimately decided to hand the object over to Fanny, to gain Fanny's favor and intel about the hammer in New Mexico. He wanted to get a grasp on the situation as soon as possible.

He pulled all the information he could find about Fanny and pored over it, but he couldn't find any evidence to suggest that Fanny was anything more than a normal person.

Hours later….

Nick Fury rubbed his eyebrows anxiously and finally gave up on finding any discrepancy in the data about Fanny.

Early morning the next day.

Nick Fury contacted Fanny with the obelisk. This time, they met in a SHIELD base instead of Tony's villa.

Nick Fury brought the Black Widow along with Fanny's consent. She returned to SHIELD after Tony fired her.

"We meet again, Mr. Fanny. Gotta say, I didn't expect that the mysterious 'Silver Knight' was a college student," Natasha greeted Fanny with a smile, seeing his casual clothes.

Nick Fury had briefed her about Fanny and tasked her to get into Fanny's good side so she could gather more information about him. She deduced from the briefing that the fastest way to build her relationship with Fanny was through an optimistic and cheerful personality.

Fanny only glanced and nodded in response to Natasha's greeting, not paying much attention to her.

As the saying goes, the only free cheese is in the mousetrap. Natasha's cheerful attitude was abnormal, especially given his past treatment of her. He would also be careful of other girls in the future.

They might be another of Nick Fury's subordinates.

Nick Fury had the ability to arrange these things without technically violating his oath to not reveal Fanny's identity.

"Did you bring the thing?"

Nevertheless, it was too soon to worry about all that. At least for now, Fanny was only concerned about the 'obelisk.'

Nick placed a black box in front of Fanny.

Fanny opened the box and found the 'obelisk' inside. He didn't know how it works, so he didn't dare to touch it.
