The duo silently walked in the desert, trying to find a place where they could rest their bones, but how could they find a peaceful place in the middle of the danger zone?
Even apex predators like this scorpion could be killed by a group of scorpions that came from different tribes and species.
" Little guy, let's rest here. I think we can't find shade after this stop. Wanna drink water?"
He handed water to the scorpion which it drank skillfully even though his hands were claws. It gently held the bottle and squeezed it to Drip in its giant mouth as he savored its taste.
Scorpions were powerful creatures that didn't require much need but no living creature could exist without water. Compared to other species, they drink less and store it inside their bodies to move later.
" You sure are a strange creature. I think you are more intelligent than Licht's hawk. She is a cute fellow that always follows my vice-captain. She isn't big like you, but she is fast and smart."
Daemon smiled while talking in a heavy accent. Scorpion shook his head, indicating he didn't like his accent because he preferred to communicate cleanly. However, this man seemed to be muscle headed as he continued to babble about his home and squad. He even talked about other divine animals that he never heard of before.
Even so, he listened to him with a keen interest, imagining visiting the great western continent someday. He knows his species were adored by desert folks but they would be viewed as monsters in other regions due to their bodies and looks.
Despite these obvious facts, the little scorpion wanted to visit the corners of the world. Thus, he rebelled from his family, reaching the extreme north of the desert to find a way to travel. However, what he met wasn't kind scorpions or humans since they all wanted to hunt him down for various reasons. Only this man didn't seem to be bothered by his size and look except for running part in their meeting.
Suddenly, he felt a tremor from the ground. That means something was running under the surface and traveling through the sands to find prey that could they or could prey on.
He gently lifted his claws, pulling the shirt of Daemon as the other party noticed his gaze. He felt the scorpion was warning him, so he put down his ear to the sand and listened to it. Normally it wouldn't work, but he was an anomaly who sharpened his senses to the maximum.
It was his right. He heard the silent sound of sand, moving toward them at extreme speed.
Daemon's face changed a little as he got up on the back of the bewildered scorpion.
" Boy, run quickly. It isn't one thing, it is a horde of things and I think they aren't friendly like you."
His voice scared the little guy because they were in the middle of a desert scorpion area where bloodthirsty scorpions nested. They were the most aggressive type of scorpions, so the little guy immediately burrowed under the ground while Daemon rode his back.
" Boy, let's go to the south, I feel we might meet our friends and if we can meet them, we will get rid of them."
Daemon's words seemed to lie, but little scorpion knew he couldn't outrun them, so he decided to follow his order. The dunes constantly passed them as they heard rumbling sound from their behind, nearing their asses.
" Faster or we are gonna become acid in their stomach."
Daemon urged while sending sword auras to divert them. They were slowed a little as they carefully followed them.
" There! I see them!"
Daemon was delighted to see Licht. He was holding his sword and ran to him with great speed as he jumped up into the air. One of the giant scorpions rose from the ground, trying to devour him, but what he met wasn't food rather it was a sword that sliced through him.
Licht and Daemon sliced the scorpion, tainting the ground with black blood.
" Lisha, Chono freeze them. Qattara, can you help my friend?"
Licht's sword burned brighter than the sun. His calm eyes were forced on the scorpions that came from underground.
