Emerald left the Luna Guardians and went to stand with Briar. He looped his arm around her waist and they stood together at the stone table. 


“Victor, my son, come join us with your mate,” Briar said, holding a hand out to Victor. 


Victor winked at me and he crossed the clearing. He held out his hand to me. 


My stomach exploded with butterflies. I wasn’t sure why I was so nervous, but I was. 


Shyly, I took his hand and he led me to the stone table with his parents. He put his arm around me and we all stood there in silence as we waited for the arrival of the other packs. 


“When the Second and Third Moon Clans arrive, they’ll lay out their own offerings. They won’t come separated into the male and female groups like we did,” Victor whispered back. 


“And then?” I prompted. No one had explained to me what this event was. I’d just gone along with what everyone told me to do.
