Chapter 49: The Talk With Emerald

Tara’s POV

“I must teach you how to help Victor, first.”

I felt Emerald’s hand land on my chest as she spoke to me, and I knew that it wasn’t my body–at least not the physical part of it–that she was referring to. No, Emerald was reaching towards something corporal, something innate in all she-wolves. I looked up to the woman in front of me as I saw something flash in her eyes.

“Your luna guardians are more powerful than you have come to know, and it will be the greatest source of power not only for your mate but for the mates of all your guardians. It’s your duty to protect them with your life, Tara.”

I knew this, though. Why was she telling it to me again? Why did Emerald seem to have that look in her eyes that told me she knew more than she was letting on?

“I can protect him,” I told her. “I know how to project the shield.”
