Chapter 53: The Boy In The Woods

Tara’s POV

I took a deep breath and stepped through the threshold of the large wooden gate. The wide doors shut behind us, locking both Victor and I in the enclosure that had been created in this remote part of the forest.

It was time for the first trial.

Once the doors settled closed behind us, I could still faintly hear the low creaking of other doors on various other ends of the enclosure, signaling that the other teams had entered and were now stuck in here with us, as well.

It wasn’t a competition, necessarily, but it would be good to make sure that we were among the first batch of students who completed the task. It guaranteed that we passed, it made sure that we had enough energy and skill to have easily surpassed this small trial.

“Are you alright?” Victor turned to me as he questioned me, and I looked up to him with a small nod. It wasn’t the complete truth, I was nervous, but it wasn’t a total lie either.
