Chapter 81: Tanner

Tara’s POV

It had been a few days since Victor and I had come to this place, and despite their obvious care and concern for our comfort, there was still little trust being shown towards us as outsiders.

Jack had taken it upon himself to keep Victor and I separated for our stay here so far. I didn’t know where he was being kept but it was in a room far from my own. I could still speak to him through the mind link, which was the only reason I was somewhat alright with not being able to see him for so long. However, it didn’t tell me anything about how well Jack thought about us being here.

His words about helping us, about feeling as though he knew me from somewhere, hadn’t left my mind either.

“Ow!” I cried out as a shovel hit my foot.

“Well, if you paid more attention to your surroundings maybe you wouldn’t be shovelled,” Tanner called out to me as he picked up his own shovel and walking into the garden entrance we had been walking toward.
