Chapter 97: Alpha Fight

Tara’s POV

“You’re sure about this?”

It was maybe the second time Axel had asked me that question. I turned my head to him and nodded again. The others had already retreated, moving as far away from Victor’s line of sight as they could.

I nodded my head to the boy in front of me and gave him a comforting smile. It wasn’t like we had any other choice, and the more we stood here debating it with each other, the more agitated Victor was going to become.

“Go, take care of the others. I’ll try and bring him back as soon as I can.”

“We’ll come looking for you at sunset, if you aren’t back by then,” he noted.

Axel spared Victor one last glance before he moved, and I wondered for a moment what must be going through his head—to see his best friend, his Alpha, in such a state and not being able to bring him back. This was his one duty as Beta, to be able to protect their Alpha in a way no one else could, and yet, here he was, standing before him, weak and powerless.
