Tara’s POV

There was a knock on the door, and before I called out for the person to come in, I straightened myself up. I wiped my tears, and I sat on the side of the bed, waiting for the doors to open as I told them to enter.

Kia’s head popped in first, then Talia and Tanner behind her.

“Are you alright?” Kian asked.

I cleared my throat before I spoke. “Yeah, why?”

“Because you nearly killed Alexandria and Victor?” Talia chimed in.

There was a pause before I blanched, and then the vomit came next. Thousands of images, moments, memories, touches, sights and sounds rushed forward. It were as though Talia’s words were a latch that opened a doorway, and I was the unknowing gatewarden.

The flashed of all the things that had happened recently came to me—the words I had said to Alexandria, the look on her face, the challenge and the fight. And then Victor intervening.
