Chapter 194: Here We Love Again

Tara’s POV

Bridges burnt are not so easily fixed, I’ve heard, and yet, here I was, standing on the edge of precipice with my friend on the other side.

Alexandria had accepted my apology. I had groveled, of course. But after taking a bite out of me, she had joined me on the ground and we, too, had shed tears for the time we had lost. There was no place in my heart for her—it felt as though she existed within my blood instead, or my bones, or my soul. Not something so expendable and easily tricked.

Later, Axel had come forth to me as well with the news that he had known what had happened. For a moment, I could not face him. For a moment, all I could do was dwell in the regret that he had come out of this situation with the worst possible ending.
