What’s Inside The Farm (Part 2)

Olivia was right…Matthew was angry. "What the hell Liv!" Olivia could already imagine Matthew pacing back and forth wherever he was and his nose fuming in anger. Or maybe, he was already pulling his hair from his scalp from frustration. Frustration that she caused him. "Do you have any idea what the fuck you are doing? My God! Liv!"

Olivia instantly felt guilty when she heard Matthew's voice. He was angry, frustrated, and worried at the same time. She should be annoyed because he was shouting at her but she is not because she knew that it was her fault. So, she bit her lower lip and softly said, "Babe…"

"Don't babe me, Liv! You promised to tell me and Meg first!" Olivia flinched because Matthew was right. She doesn't know what got her to go and follow Jove Latimer without a plan and didn't inform Matthew and Megan. Maybe desperation? No…definitely desperation.

Olivia's heart trembled at the obvious anger in Matthew's voice. "I know…I'm sorry but–"

"Listen to me, Liv," Olivia heard Matthew say, this time, his voice softer but with a hint of frustration. "You listen and follow what your security will tell you to do,"

Matthew's words brought a frown to her face. "Matthew, what do you mean–" She asked but she was not able to finish her sentence because Matthew hung up on her.

Shit.

Olivia cursed internally.

Did he just hang up on her?

Olivia knows that she is screwed up.

She tried to call Matthew again but before she could press the call button, she heard a knock on her car window making her almost jump in surprise.

The huge man, who was actually Olivia's security detail, was standing beside her car and knocking on her car window. Olivia sighed and remembered Matthew's words…listen and follow her security details. She wondered what it was about.

Since Matthew didn't give her an explanation, she reluctantly rolled down her car window.

"Miss Bennet, please follow us," The huge man said and then he turned around and walked away toward the black SUV that was parked just a few meters from her car.

How could she not notice them following her?

Olivia cursed internally.

Olivia gathered her things from her car and stepped out of it. She followed the huge man from earlier and saw that he met up with another man. Compared to the huge man, the other man was tall and skinny but Olivia will not underestimate him. Matthew chose them to be her security detail if they were not capable.

It was the second time that Olivia met her two security details. The first time was when Matthew introduced her to them. Since then, she never even saw their shadow to the point that she almost forgot that they exist. Matthew just always reminds her that her security details were watching her safety.

Since Olivia knew them, she didn't have second thoughts about following them around the perimeter wall of the farm where Jove Latimer's SUV drove in. But she was curious about where they are going and what they are up to. Why do they want her to follow them?

Olivia didn't have to wait for long because her security details stopped in front of her. She looked around wondering why they stopped until the tall and skinny man bent forward and cleared the grass where they were stepping into.

Olivia's eyes went wide when she saw a manhole.

The huge man pushed open the heavy-looking cover of the manhole and then he looked at Olivia and said, "Get in here,"

Olivia looked at the man with an 'are you kidding me?' expression on her face.

But the huge man remained impassive as he gestured with his hand, "Follow that direction and it will lead you inside the farm," Then he opened his jacket to pull out a folded paper. "Take this," He added.

"What's this?" Olivia asked as she opened the paper and saw that it was a map inside the farm.

The tall and skinny man leaned closer to her and pointed at the map. "The manhole will lead you here. Take your time in exploring the place while we cover your presence," He said.

Olivia looked up from the paper to her two security details incredulously. It appears they were helping her. Matthew probably ordered them to help her.

"How did you know?" Olivia asked. In fact, she has a lot of questions in her mind right now. Because it appears that her security details knew that Jove Latimer was going to that farm for them to conjure a map in that instant.

"Just get in," But her security details didn't answer her. She made a mental note to ask Matthew instead. That is, once Matthew had cooled down from his anger for her.

In the next fifteen minutes, Olivia ventured into the dark tunnel with nothing but the flashlight of her phone while cursing under her breath. She was cursing at the security details that Matthew assigned to her. They could have found a better way to get inside the farm yet they got her a tunnel where she cannot even walk straight.

The tunnel was small for her so she had to walk while crouching.

The only thing she was thankful for, is that the tunnel was not wet or smelly. At least the ground she was walking on was dry, the air was hot but it was not humid.

And yeah, it could have been better but she is thankful that her security found her a way to get inside.

Now fifteen minutes later, she is standing inside a horse stable. Compared to the tunnel, the horse stable was spacious and brighter but smelly. The smell was warm…a mixture of leather and musty hay. She could also smell the scent of manure and urine that a horse lover would find…sweet.

Olivia is not a fan of the smell but she could tolerate it.

The stable was empty as she looked around. She walked toward the huge double door that is made of timber and peeked through the slits. A smile broke onto her lips when she confirmed that she was inside the farm and saw Jove Latimer's SUV parked in front of a huge mansion not too far from the stable.

She managed to get inside the farm without anyone's notice, thanks to her security details…now she has to find a way to get inside that mansion without anyone's help since her security details were left on the other side of the perimeter fence.

Olivia unconsciously looked back to where she came from in the hope that her security followed her but as she stared at it for a few seconds, she realized that they chose to stay back.

She pursed her lip as she looked back at the mansion through the slit between the slabs of the wooden door. She has to get inside that mansion unnoticed.

Olivia has a strong feeling that she'll find a newsworthy story about Jove Latimer inside the mansion. And whatever that story is, her instinct tells her that it would unmask Jove Latimer. It will be proof that he is not what the public believes him to be…what he made the public believe him to be…that he is not a saint.

So Olivia was determined to get into that mansion. Even if it means she has to cross the field between the stable and the mansion that she assumed to be around fifty meters or more…unnoticed. Which seems quite impossible.

Olivia calculated that there is an eighty percent chance that she will get caught. Because if the farm is owned by Jove Latimer, there is a possibility that it is littered with security cameras even though she cannot see any guards walking around.

But Olivia chose to entrust her fate to the remaining twenty percent. Call herself stupid and desperate, but that she is.

Either Olivia was really lucky or she underestimated that twenty percent because she reached the mansion without getting caught. How did no one even notice her? She wondered if Jove Latimer doesn't have anything valuable in that farm to even bother to put security in it. But then, shouldn't there be at least employees on the farm?

But it was not Olivia's problem at the moment. She should celebrate that she managed to get inside the huge mansion without getting caught. Not even when she was exploring the inside of the mansion until she found what she was looking for.

What Olivia found was something that she did not expect. In fact, she was shocked and remained shocked even until she stepped out of the manhole outside the perimeter fence of the farm where her security details were waiting for her.

Shocked…surprised…dumbfounded was an understatement. Until it was replaced by anger. Anger towards the man who calls himself a saint.

Jove Latimer is delirious if he calls himself a saint. Because to Olivia, he is a monster. He is a wolf dressed in sheep's skin.

How could a man such as Jove Latimer exist?

How could something like that exist?

Those were the questions that Olivia asked herself in her mind.

No. She did not witness or find gore secrets inside the huge mansion but the feeling she felt was something like that.

Jove Latimer should be hanged…if that still exists these days. Olivia thought to herself.

One moment Olivia was standing in the middle of the hallway of the second floor of the huge mansion inside the farm…if it was really a farm…and then the next thing she knows, she is already inside her car.

She cannot even remember how she managed to get out of that hell because her head was filled with the image she found inside that mansion…with the voices of women asking for her help…
