CHAPTER 81

  Koko's POV

I came out of hiding and ran as fast as my weak legs could carry me. I didn't know where I was going, but anywhere was better than here. If I remained, they might track me down and capture me again.

I was running out of breath, but I needed to keep moving. At least, if I kept running, I might find a village or something and look for help there.

I halted when I saw that night had come. It was not usually safe outside by this time, because of rogue wolves. Me getting captured by them would be worse. They'd kill me immediately if they set their eyes on me.

I used my eyes to scan the place and saw an oak tree. I sighed in relief and made my way there. As soon as I got to the tree, I hurried to the back and sat down there. The long grass should be able to hide me well till tomorrow morning. I touched my head and could feel that it was already hot. My fever was acting up again.
