Chapter 5- A new threat

In an unknown place surrounded by fog is located a ruined castle.

Inside the castle sat someone with long silver-colored hair, broken horns, and scars along his body, he sat there on his old throne while his fists were clenched and his axe was by his side.

Suddenly he felt a breeze in his face and threw his ax towards the source of the breeze without hesitation or effort, "Wow", the cloaked demon shouted as he barely dodged the axe aimed at his throat, "my lord, you almost killed me", he took off the cloak that covered his face as he was revealed as the one behind the dragon's attack.

The longed-haired demon stood on his feet and made his way to his axe and at the moment he held it in his hand, he swung it and stopped it exactly a hundredth of a second away from the throat of the demon that was formerly his right hand.

"Marco, I hope there is a good reason why you dared to show your face here even though I told you not to come back here", he was ready to behead his former right hand at any given time but Marco know that with what he saw at the capital about light mage will make his former master dance from happiness.

"Apollo, my lord, ever since you kicked me out of your inner circle, I have traveled all across the human world, as I killed many mages in your great name." Apollo started to get tired of Marco's long and pointless explanation his face started to show more and more indignation and he decided to press his axe even closer to Marco's throat until blood began to flow from the cut.

"Get to the point," he said as Marco could feel the rage in his tone, "so after a while, I came across an interesting job in the magic guild, and I saw that job as a perfect opportunity to get vengeance at the humans in the kingdom so I summoned our last dragon, but a human child defeated her while using light magic....", his words stopped as he felt the axe left his throat and Apollo who turned around and walk to his throne, Marco walked to his master however he stood at his place when suddenly he shivers at his spine, the atmosphere in the thorn room changed in an instant when Apollo began to clench his fists while dark and disgusting mana surrounded him and made Marco remember the demon king levels of anger.

"five years ago, during the war, the demon king and Apollo fought a certain light magician who killed two of the death knights on his own." thought Marco.

He remembered the mage with terror, "as the two demons fought the mage in a fight that was fought for few days and in the end the demon king was able to kill the magician as the human gave him and Apollo serious wounds which made them retreat from the battlefield." Marco told himself.

"Until this day, no one knows the demon king's whereabouts and his condition as well, not even his underlings know about him, and as for Apollo until this day he tried to heal those wounds without any success, with every day that want by he became angrier and angrier until the point that he went outside with the wounds and killed every light mage out there, it didn't matter if it was just a rumor or the real deal, child and an adult, they all paid for his endless rage" that's all that Marco know because, after those events, he was kicked out of the crumbling palace but in his absence, he didn't realize that his master had lost himself to his anger, not even a demon should be that lost.

He couldn't move any muscle in his body as he felt that if he would move an inch, he will be cut in half, Marco just stood there as Apollo opened his mouth, "what is his name?", even the ground tumbled in fear as those words left his mouth, maybe the sentence sounds like a question from the outside, but to Marco, it sounds more like if you don't tell me you will die, because of the tone and the look in Apollo's eyes.

Marco didn't know the mage's name, as he remembered that he had brought with him the newspaper that covered the incident in the village, The newspaper that had Rean's face smeared along with his name, he reached out to Apollo who took the newspaper from his hands as if the newspaper was a roll of toilet paper during the lockdown.

"REAN SAKAMOTO, A NEW LEGEND?", Apollo held the newspaper tightly while he read the article's headline and stared at Rean's picture memorizing his face inch by inch the moment he ended with his business, the newspaper was set ablaze with green flames and through the smoke that covered his face, Marco could only see his master's now shining eyes, that made him realize he unleashed his master from the five years of slumber in which he didn't have any purpose as he finally found a new target.

At the same time at the capital.

Rean was "imprisoned" in the academy ground, he couldn't travel the streets without being recognized and swarmed by his new fans, while his friends laughed about the fact that Rean had missed Peter's apology to Nate, his wife, and his little kid, as they made sure to describe how Peter looked while he apologized as his face was red as a tomato.

Peter's apology, made the commoners want more, they felt that it was the right and only time to bring a change, that was the chance they'll have to make a comonomer win a position as noble with all the benefits that come with the "job", and for them, Rean was the perfect candidate for obvious reasons.

The subject made the conflict between the nobles and commoners reach a boiling point, in every noble house the subject was brought to the attention, and the name Rean became a banned word in every nobles' meeting, as they all agreed to eradicate the problem.

In the house of a baron named Guy Tamaki, a glass cup was thrown into a wall.

"HOW ARE THOSE RATS THINK THEY ARE!!!", If humanity had a scale to measure its level of arrogance and stupidity, he would be among the first places. as he continued to throw every item in the room his wife Martha entered the room while holding a letter in her hands.

"My dear, why are you keep breaking your head trying to understand those filthy animals?", Martha would probably be with Guy in the first places in the scale as well.

"Duke Vlad invited us to his daughter's wedding." she handed him the opened letter, and as he took the letter all the remaining items in the room sighed in relief as they realized they get to live for another day.

Guy was surprised as he read the invitation, "WHAT", he was shocked, "the wedding will be held in three days, why it just got here? it's too soon we need to be prepared to depart towards the second city", Guy turned to his wife hoping to get an answer.

"Well, you see dear by what I managed to gather the duke already sent these invitations a week ago but those delivery guys were on a strike because of that comonomer trash," Martha answered with a condescending facial expression, and if she'd paid attention she could see Guy looking at her with a puzzled look, "well it's doesn't matter now", he said to himself, "I couldn't ask for a perfect timing then that, almost all of the most important nobles will be there, and this will be the chance to discuss about the new problem".

Back in the academy hallways, the tired Rean made his way to Leon's office, he was super exhausted and on his way, he remembered the old days, just a couple of days ago when he and his friends walked around the city together without being disturbed.

And there he was in front of Leon's office, Rean opened the door only to see the school principal surrounded by mountains of papers on his table, and behind him, Leon who saw his son tossed the stack of paper off his desk and onto the floor and pointed to an empty chair in front of him.

"Come here Rean sit here", his weird facial expression made Rean narrow his eyes, "what do you want? and more important what are those papers?", he said as he closed the door behind him and walked to the chair.

"Ah, this? , it just documents about the new students, I'm taking my time to learn about them cause I am the greatest principal of all time", Leon would've continued to praise himself if Rean didn't turn and made his way towards the door.

"No, no, no wait a minute" he smeared on the table while reaching out to Rean.

"You know Terry right", Rean who turned around nodded his head as a sign of agreement, "So anyway," Leon continued, "she spoke to me today and informed me that Duke Vlad's daughter is getting married", Rean looked at him with a confused look "What am I supposed to do with this information?".

"You're not supposed to do anything with it unless you want to die at the hands of Asuna".

Leon stood up and approached Rean, "But Terry told me that Vlad asked the guild to find magicians to work as security guards and that she only had one spot left in the group, so she asked me, Rean to fill the vacant position".

The two exchanged glances for some time, "This would be a real opportunity to test the skills of magicians outside of the academy" rean said to himself.

After a few seconds of hesitation he decided to accept the mission, Leon informed him that he would have to receive the rest of the details of the mission at the guild tomorrow and that he should go there early in the morning before the streets will start to fill up with people.

The duo talked for an hour and the moment that Rean left it was already night time, Leon who stood in his office for a minute stood there in silence and suddenly it hit him, he was the only one in the area and he will need to clean his office and also sort out all the papers that were thrown by him onto the floor after a moment of silence he started crying.

That night no one in the academy knew from where those endless crying came.
