We Have A Problem

"Malfoy! Get you ferret arse down here now!" Hermione called up the stairs.

Draco sighed from his bed and turned the page if his book.

"Yes?" Malfoy called.

"I'm coming in!" Hermione yelled from the other side.

"I have a feeling you won't listen if I say no," Draco sighed closing his book and standing up as Hermione threw the door open and marched in, slamming it behind her.

"May I help you?" Draco asked once she froze.

"Uh, yes." Hermione said quickly recovering from staring at his shirtless torso, "Have you seen an old looking book? Its really small and has a leather cover, brown."

"Can't say I have," Draco said slowly.

"Are you sure? It was out in the common room last night and I came down to retrieve it and now its gone," Hermione said crossing her arms and shifting her weight to the right.

"I haven't seen it since last night when I went to bed, Granger," Draco said walking over to the cupboard and opening it, "Oh wait now I have."

He held up the small book and Hermione's face paled, "Give it back," she said quickly.

"Why? I haven't gotten the chance to read it," Draco smirked.

"Its not for reading," Hermione said walking over to him.

"Or is it? All books are meant to be read. That's why they are written," Draco said thoughtfully striding over to the wall to his right.

"Its not meant for reading, Malfoy. Its a jornal to write in, now give it here," Hermione demanded following him.

Malfoy stopped when he reached the wall and turned to face Hermione who had also stopped. He held the book above his head and she reached for it. Hermione cursed herself that she didn't have her wand.

"What's wrong?" Draco smirked, "Don't have you wand with you?"

"Just give it back, Malfoy," Hermione sighed.

"I don't think so. I am looking forward to reading it very much," Draco taunted.

"Please don't read it," Hermione said.

"Fine then. I'll give it back to you under one condition."

"And what's that?"

Draco smirked at her making sure she was following his eyes before glancing over at the bed. He knew she'd let him have the book thing if he even suggested it. He watched the bed for a moment before turning back to Hermione with a raised eyebrow.

Hermione followed his gaze and turned a little to see him looking over at his bed. 'Oh hell no!' Hermione thought to herself looking back over at Draco who had a raised eyebrow accompanied with his smirk.

"So?" He asked.

Hermione's eyes widened in fear. She glanced at the journal then back to Draco her face in puzzlement. She started thinking as quickly as she could. One night or him teasing and bullying her for the rest of the seven months of school? She started to breathe heavier as she weighed her options.

Draco watched her carefully as she did this and started to worrying she might really not want him to read what was in the book. He watched her eyes widen when he verbally suggested it and saw the fear pass through them before she started thinking. He knew she was thinking because whenever she was deep in thought, she'd bite her bottom lip, furrow her eyebrows, and crinkle her nose.

"Granger?" He asked.

Hermione looked up at him then to the book. She really didn't want him to read that. It would be humiliating beyond words and he would easily use it as blackmail to get whatever he wanted from her.

She took a breath and turned around.

"Where are you going?" Draco demanded as she started walking away.

"Make it quick," she said sitting on the bed and waiting.

Draco's eyes widened as he watched her play with her fingers, her breathing quite rapid.

"W-What?" He stuttered out.

"I said," Hermione released a shuddering breath that showed she was terrified, "Make it quick."

Draco just stared at her. What was in that damned journal?

"You aren't just gonna leave?" He asked dumbstruck.

Hermione shook her head, "You're never reading what's in there. I write everything in that. I have since before first year. I'm not giving someone like you a literal open book of my life and feelings. You'll use it against me and blackmail me in any way you want."

Draco suddenly felt really bad for her. She was willing to put herself through that just so he wouldn't read what was in the book.

He walked over to her and sat next to her with the book in his hands. He ran one hand over the cover of the book before he took Hermione's hands. He placed the book in them and wrapped her fingers around it.

"Go," he said.

"What?"

"Go. You can leave if you want," Draco said slowly.

Hermione stared at him in shock. Since when was Draco Malfoy, the bully, Slytherin, and bouncing ferret nice like this.

"Why?" She asked, "Why are you letting me go?"

"Would you prefer to stay?" Draco asked looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

"No," Hermione said, "But why are you being well, nice to me?"

Draco chuckled softly, "If you were siriusly willing to do this with me, there must be secrets in there you don't want told ever. I can respect that."

"Oh," Hermione said softly, unsure of what to say.

Draco smiled smally at her, "You're different than others," he said, "Every girl I've met would give me a book of their secrets to get in bed with me, but you're willing to do it to keep your secrets away. You're different. I like that."

Hermione blushed slightly and looked down at the book, hoping he wouldn't see her face.

"Are you blushing?" He asked in a small teasing way.

"Of course not," Hermione scoffed.

"Then look at me," Draco said.

"I like the view of the book just fine," Hermione replied.

Draco laughed and reached out over and grabbed her chin. He lifted her face of and turned it so she was looking at him. Only then did they realize how close they were.

"You're so blushing," he whispered gently his hand still on her chin.

Hermione's face went a half a shade darker and as she looked into Draco's eyes. She noticed his face was a little pink ams let a small smile slip onto her face.

"So are you," she said softly.

Draco blushed a deeper shade and Hermione just gave a small laugh before looking back at him.

Draco's eyes studied her face as she looked at him. After a moment they dropped down to her lips and he suddenly wanted to feel them on his own. He raised his eyes back to hers and found her in a small state of shock, eyes widened and lips parted slightly.

Hermione felt butterflies in her stomach when his eyes fell to her lips and he got an odd look I'm his eye. She watched in a bit of shock as he raised his eyes back to hers as if asking her permission.

She could tell he was restraining himself from pouncing on her. She swallowed hard and took a deep breath before looking him back in the eyes and softening her face.

Draco glanced back to her lips then eyes and saw permission in them. She smiled slightly at him and gave the smallest nod. Draco smiled back before leaning forward and placing his lips on hers.

Hermione's heart all but exploded and fireworks shot off in her stomach as they kissed slowly and in perfect synchronization. Hermione melted into the kiss as she felt Draco slowly work his way into her mouth.

After what felt like a lifetime, he pulled away. Their faces were flushed and small smiles on their faces.

"We have a problem," Hermione whispered.

"What's wrong?" Draco asked whipping his head to her.

Hermione took her book and placed it in Draco's hand before grabbing his wand. She touched the book once and said, "October 15th."

A bookmark appeared out of nowhere and Draco looked at Hermione. She nodded so he opened to that page, and read the entry.

Draco stopped reading after that and looked up at Hermione who was watching him nervously, biting her lip. If she only knew how much that killed him.

"Y-You're in love with me?" He asked slowly.

"I said we have a problem," Hermione whispered.

"I see. Well I seem to have a problem to," Draco said, "Unfortunately I have fallen for you as well."

Hermione looked at him quickly, "Really?"

"Mm hm!" Draco said, "Hermione, I am hopelessly in love with you."

"Well, Draco, I am hopelessly in love with you too," Hermione smiled.

"Thank merlin for that," he said with a huge smile before missing her again.
