Chapter 5: Edens Garden.

The truck left the military camp. I let out a small sigh, I pushed myself up in the truck just to peek around at my surroundings. The beautiful sight left me breathless. It seemed like we were on a mountain. I always wanted to live in a place like this but we needed to wait at least until it reached a city. My sister fell asleep next to me. So I made sure no one noticed us.

I couldn't keep my eyes open and slowly passed out in the truck. I pried my eyes open, the beautiful sun shining down on my face, it felt tingling but nice at the same time. An hour or so probably passed. The truck finally reached a small town. I grabbed onto my sister and slowly placed my leg out of the truck. I dropped down and rolled a bit, my knees got scratched pretty badly and my legs were quivering.

We waited a couple of seconds until we couldn't hear the truck anymore. It felt like a huge brick fell off my heart, almost like I was reborn. I placed my hands next to me, the road covered in moss felt like I was home on my bed again, then I pushed myself up. I gave a hand to my sister. She gladly accepted it. So I pulled her up from the dirty ground. I looked around. It was beauty itself. Tears nearly came to my eyes. The sight was stunning. Small buildings were covered in moss. Numerous bugs creeping on the street. Each of them has their own life. I looked at my sister. She was dumbfounded. I found myself smiling. Smiling for the first time.

I grasped her hand. I held onto her to make certain nothing happens. "Let's go, Annie." we jogged across the street to the small building. I held onto the door knob. I placed my ears on the door. I had to make sure nothing was in here. Once I was sure enough. I pulled on the knob and opened it. I peeked around for a bit before entering. I stepped into the building. Put my sister down. I had to make everything barricaded. I closed the door. I grabbed onto the edge of the closet. I started pulling on it. I pulled it in front of the door. I went on to the other windows.

I didn't have anything. I examined the room. But it didn't have anything. I detected it has a second floor. "Stay here Annie." I made my way to the staircase and began going up. The stairs were mossy and the handle was rusty. When I reached half of the stairs I stopped. I heard something upstairs. A radio sound. Cold shivers ran down my spine and a bulge formed in my throat. Someone was talking. I listened for a bit. It seemed to be a woman.

I stepped up on the upcoming stair. I noticed it too late. There was a stick on the stairs. A stick big enough to make a noticeable noise. My heart was beating like never before. My life flashed through my eyes, I tried pulling my leg back but it was too late. I finished my step. It made a crack. The lady made sudden movements, something was ruffling. She noticed "Who is there?" I could hear her unzipping and slowly pulling out something. She was taking slow steps. I put my hand up so she could see.

I strode up the remaining stairs. I didn't need to look around. She was in front of me. A couple of meters away. She was tall. Black hair. I couldn't notice her eyes. "Who are you? Drop anything you have" her voice sounded rough and sinister. I slowly and gently reached into my pockets. I grasped the knife and took it out of my pocket. My breath was getting heavy and faster. I held it for a couple of seconds. Then gradually and gently I placed it down on the ground. "Is that it?" I could tell she was confused. The look on her small and fragile face told me everything. I nodded.

"Move back a bit" so I made a couple of steps back. She moved fast and rough. She dashed forward and reached down for the knife with her small, gentle hands. She picked up the knife. She took off a small backpack. Unzipped it, then placed the knife inside. "Are you alone?" I shook my head as a sign of no. "How many of you?" "Only me and my sister" I finally spoke up." it felt like my throat finally got freed. "Let's go down boy. Keep your hands up the whole time." she made me turn around. Then walked behind me. We started making our way down the stairs. Step by step.

We have gotten closer to Annie." No, let me go" was the only thing I heard from downstairs. Fear walked down my spinal cords and I rushed down the stairs. Peeking around as I reached the bottom step I entered the floor. It must be a bandit. It was one man. I ran from the stairs toward the guy. As I was close enough, I jumped forwards so that I have enough momentum. When I reached the guy. I placed my hands around his two thighs and tackled his legs.

He fell to the ground and groaned. I held onto his legs and got on top of him. Once I was completely on top of him. I reached for his throat. And started choking him to death. Meanwhile, the girl made her way down the last step. She jogged in my direction. She was looking at the dude. She took the bag off and grabbed the knife. She pushed me off the man. She got down to look him in the eyes. Then she slowly cut his throat with the sharp blade.

Blood was like a fountain from the man's throat. The girl gradually stood up and skimmed at me. She held her hand out for a shake. "My name is Eden." I held onto her hand and shook it. "My name is Charles, and she is my sister Annie." we both looked at each other as she let go of my hand. She took off her mask she was stunning. Her black hair and brown eyes were shining in the sunlight. She looked embarrassed knowing I was glaring at her. "Anyways, what are you guys doing here?" she was looking around. Almost like searching for something "are you looking for anything?"

"Batteries. I need batteries for my radio. So I can report everything to my home base." she didn't look like a trooper. Nor was she clothed like one. Her clothing was dark black. Probably to avoid getting noticed by anyone. "Get down" she whispered. She pushed my head down gently with her small hands. With my hand, I reach out for my sister. Then I pulled her close down next to me. I glanced a peek outside to see what was going on. It was military trucks.

Numerous and many of them. Even soldiers just on foot. They were properly armed. We waited until the convoy passed us. Then finally we were free to move. I stood up and then pulled my sister close. "Let's move together." she glanced at me with a smile on her small and fragile face. I nodded in acceptance. I walked towards the stairs. I had to climb these ridiculous stairs again. Once I got up them. I looked around for some wooden tables or chairs. I moved around the room. It was beautiful. It was covered in moss. Sunlight barely came inside the room.

Then I found a couple of chairs in the corner. 'They are a bit mossy but this will do.'I carried as many as I could. I made my way to the stairs again nearly falling over in some moss. I walked down the stairs and strolled back to the two girls waiting for me. I positioned down all the chairs and formed a small campfire. I aligned the wood a bit so it wouldn't burn down anything. "Eden, do you have a lighter?" she nodded.

She put her backpack down and searched. After a bit she pulled out a lighter, it was a bit rusty but it will do. She handed it over to me. Then I took it from her gentle small hands. Her hands were silky smooth. I started firing up the wood. It caught on fire after a bit of trying. And our campfire was fully done now. The flames of the fire ascended past us. Almost like they were happy to be here with us. Eden and Annie stood up and got around the campfire to warm up. And I sat down as well. All of us looked at each other not knowing what to say. Annie fell asleep while leaning on me. I felt my eyes closing down and I couldn't resist. I fell into a deep slumber as well.

"Hello Charles, I believe it's been a while since our last meeting" it was the guardian. He was floating above me. "What are you doing here Leon? Do you have anything to say to me?" I frowned my face at the guardian. He looked at my face and smiled. "Come on Charles. I'm serious, you are in terrible danger." his smile left his face as he said that a cold shiver ran through my body suddenly. 'What?' "what do you mean Leon?" I raised questions. "Something terrible is going to happen. And you can either prevent it or lose it. It's going to depend on your decisions." he had a playful but serious tone. I could tell from his eyes that he was serious. "Now I finally get to see what you are made of. And I guess that's it for today Charles." My eyes pried open and I was looking at the mossy ceiling, light ran through my face I arched my back and sat up from the ground.
