Chapter 13

I even forgot about Roxa's existence because I was too focused on thinking about what I should do in the future.

"Why didn't you tell me first," I spoke inside my head.

"[I see you're very focused on thinking about something. So, I didn't want to interrupt."]

I rubbed my forehead at what Roxa said.

"Um, excuse me!" Lily's words brought me back to my senses.

"Oh, sorry. I was daydreaming for a moment."

"No problem. But there's something that's a bit off and I wanted to ask you about it?"

"What is it?"

"Sir. Vincent rarely recommends someone to come here. Usually he only recommends someone who has enough ability and wealth to come here."

"Hah!!!"

"So, I think you have the ability that makes Sir. Vincent is interested in you."

I didn't expect Lily to make a speculation based on what she heard. Despite her young age.

"Ah!!! I seem to have strayed from the topic you asked. So, are you going to be an adventurer?"

After thinking for a while and I had also read on the map the advantages of being an adventurer. I decided to become an adventurer.

"Yes. I've decided. Thank you."

"No need to thank me. I didn't do anything."

"Well. Although I have decided to become an adventurer. Maybe I'll sign up tomorrow."

"Why is that?" Lily asked in confusion.

"Because it's too sudden. So, I'm not ready yet."

Moreover, there might be someone who feels great and wants to challenge me to a duel in the guild. A classic occurrence in novels and manga. I should at least prepare a good dialog and look cool.

"[Why do you think of things like this?]"

"Because it will make my reputation and others' view of me good or give a good impression," I replied to Roxa.

"And also I still want to rest at the inn. After all, I've booked two nights and I still have one room left."

"I understand. Then enjoy yourself with our services, before signing up as an adventurer."

"Yes."

The next day I met with Lily to say goodbye.

"Thank you for your service. In that case. Please excuse me."

"Yes. Glad you enjoyed it."

After talking with Lily I then went to the Adventurer's Guild. By relying on the map given by Sir. Vincent.

"This place is never empty of crowds of people."

As I walked towards the Adventurer's Guild. I observed the streets that were filled with many people. As I passed through an alley, there was a person standing in the middle of the alley door wearing a brown cloak. I accidentally saw that person. As I passed by the person, he said something.

"Excuse me, sir!!!"

I stopped for a moment and turned to him.

"Are you talking to me?" I asked while pointing at myself.

"[Sir, I feel something strange about that person.]"

I replied to Roxa's statement in my mind, "I know."

"Yes. I'm talking to you, sir."

Hearing that, I walked a little bit away.

"Ah!!! You don't need to be wary of me. I am merely a messenger sent from my master to see you."

The person showed his face. The man's face was that of a cool-looking old man. His hair was white with a thick mustache. He had sharp eyes and an upright body like a soldier. He was also wearing glasses. Perhaps because of the hustle and bustle of the city I didn't hear this man's voice clearly before. When I heard him again his voice was quite firm and he was wearing the clothes of a butler.

"Hm!!! Messenger? Why were you sent to see me?"

"The story might be a bit long. It's not good to explain while standing here. It's better if we change places."

I agreed. We decided to talk at a restaurant. We sat down with an awkward atmosphere.

"Hm! Is there anything you want to order?" I asked.

"I'll ask for the same thing you ordered."

Hearing that I ordered a drink and some food.

"Before we start the conversation I would like to introduce myself first. My name is Wilfrod. A servant from a noble family."

"So, why did your master send you to see me?"

"Because my master owes you a favor."

"Owe??? I'm afraid you're wrong, I haven't done anything to make your master indebted, nor do I know your master or any noble."

"You are wrong, my master is a person who will always remember the kindness of others. You may also know him even if you don't meet him."

Still not understanding what was said, I put on a confused expression.

"Sir I think he's the wrong person."

"I think so," I replied.

"Perhaps, you are still confused. Let me explain. My master is a nobleman who lives in this town. His name is Roman Fontaine."

The moment I heard his name, my expression changed and my eyes widened slightly.

"Isn't his surname the same as Laura's," I spoke to Roxa in my mind.

"[It seems that Roman Fontaine is Laura's father and perhaps he wants to thank you for saving her.]"

Roxa analyzed.

"Looks like you're finally starting to understand. Roman Fontaine is indebted to you for saving his daughter's life. That's why he wants to give you some gifts."

"Even so. Didn't I already get a gift from Sir. Vincent?"

"The gift is from Sir. Vincent, not from Mr. Roman Fontaine. Sir. Vincent didn't talk to Mr. Roman about the gift either."

Wow! Isn't it amazing how similar children and parents are. In accordance with 'the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree'.

"Also Sir. Vincent and Miss Laura have told me about your abilities."

So, they said information about my abilities. Well, that can't be helped. After all, I'm also showing off my abilities too much regardless of the circumstances. I should be more careful.

"After much thought and consideration, Mr. Roman Fontaine finally gave you a gift."

"And what is that?"

"One of the rewards we're giving you is. We're giving you a class A adventurer rank."

"Hahhh!!!"
