8 - Fight

Step step-

I was currently walking straight to the Boss's office. It has been an hour after the meal. I was alone, as 07 stayed in the canteen. While I was walking, I remembered the training earlier.

After my little crisis, I couldn't hold the gun without shaking, so I had to practice controlling myself. After two hours of practice, I was able to shoot without any trembling in my hands. I couldn't say I shot like a professional, but it was pretty accurate.

Also, there had been this question since the morning. Well, it had been there since I was told about the mission, but now that the time was approaching, it was more noticeable. What will be the mission? There is a high chance that it is related to murdering someone. But who?

As I was thinking of those things, I heard another set of steps near me. I looked in the direction of the footsteps, and I saw Rachel coming from another hallway.

When she saw me, she started walking toward me. Now that I realized, she was wearing the same uniform as us. Normal thing considering that she also joined Ashen Sun.

"Hi, do you mind going together?"

I didn't know why she was so friendly after what she said to me the last time we talked. But after the motivational talk 07 gave me, my nerves had calmed down a little.

"Yes, I don't mind."

"Great."

With that, we started walking toward the office. All the way was in silence, without anyone talking. I thought she would ask me about my training or even provoke me. But she didn't say anything.

We reached the Boss's office not long after our encounter. There seemed to be someone else aside from the Boss, as there were faint voices inside.

Like three days ago, I doubted if I should knock, but Rachel didn't even think about it and knocked on the door right away.

The voices stopped for a moment before we heard the Boss talking.

"Go ahead."

With that, Rachel opened the door, and I followed behind her. I was surprised to see Rebecca inside the room, standing in front of the desk. She looked at us, and then she went to a side of the room. I would like to know what they were talking about, but I don't think they would let me know.

"You two are here for the mission details, right?"

""Yes.""

"Well, I will go straight to the point."

She then took some files from a drawer and put them on the table.

"Take them."

Rachel and I approached the table and took the files. There were several papers with information. It was someone's data.

"Kyle Beck. 38 years old. He is the owner of a large pharmaceutical company. A good father. A good husband. A good citizen. You could say he is an exemplary person. But..."

The Boss put on a disappointed face as she continued speaking.

"But four days ago, we received these files from a competitor company. It seems that the marvelous person everyone thought he was, is not that marvelous. First, he abuses his wife and children when he is on bad days. I pity them. Also, he uses the pharmaceutical company as a cover for a drug business. And it doesn't end there. Prostitution, fraud environmental crime, and the list doesn't end here, but you get the point. And this other company offered us quite a quantity of money for killing this man. We eliminate cancer from society and they benefit from it.

To complete this mission, you need to murder Kyle Beck without being noticed. In two days you will go to New Jersey, as the new workers of the company. Rachel, you will be a novice secretary, and you Aaron, will be the new cleaner. Also, you will get new names that you will receive before going. I don't care how you do it, but kill this man and come here without being noticed.

That's it. You can go."

After she finished with the details, she sat in her chair behind the desk expecting us to go. Rachel got out immediately and I followed her, exiting the room.

When I started to comprehend the information I had just received, Rachel spoke to me.

"Tomorrow is the fight. Don't forget. I hope you have trained enough."

And without giving me a chance to reply, she turned around and started walking in the contrary direction to my own.

Without being bothered by that, I started walking toward my room, as I wanted to rest and read all the files the Boss gave us. While I was walking, I started to think about what the Boss told us. How could someone who is seen as an exemplary citizen, do such things from behind? I was shocked if I say the least.

With those thoughts in mind, I entered my room. Maybe for the last time.

...

-Boss POV-

After the two of them left the room, only silence was heard until Rebecca's voice interrupted it.

"Is it fine leaving them to decide if he goes with a fight?"

I smiled at her question, after all, I knew she would ask it. That was the reason she came to my office.

"Yes, it is fine. After all, Rachel's reasoning is correct. If he can't hit her even once, he isn't going to last long out there."

"I think that is normal. He only came here 4 days ago."

"Haha, that is true. But anyway, let them sort their things on their own."

"You have a reason for doing this, right?"

I didn't answer her question, but, yes, you could say I had an objective by doing this.

Sight-

"Are you going to kill him if he loses?"

"Of course, after all...

He wouldn't be the first."

...

Beep Beep-

I opened my eyes to the sound of the alarm.

Today was the day. The day when maybe my life could end, or the day I could continue living.

I got up from bed and quickly changed into my gray military suit. I looked in the mirror and nodded at myself with a determined look. Then, I exited the room and started walking toward the training field.

When I reached it, Rachel was already there, along with 07. From his presence here, I could understand that he was the referee of the fight. When they saw me, each one had a different look on their face. 07 had a worried look, and Rachel a determined one.

"Great, you are here. I thought you were not going to appear."

I didn't respond, and instead, I looked to 07. He sensed my look and started talking.

"I will be the referee. The norms are simple, it is hand-to-hand combat, so there won't be any type of weapon. And about the requirements for winning, I think you already know them. Without anything more to say, start!"

Rachel didn't wait for a second and approached me quickly, then she sent a punch straight to my face, which I avoided by a hair's breadth.

'Too fast! Maybe more than 07!'

Without giving me any chance to breathe, she punched again, but this time I was more prepared and I tried to block it with my elbow, but something that I hadn't expected happened.

Instead of blocking her fist with my elbow, she stopped the punch and grabbed my elbow, then pulled and hit me with her knee in my abdomen, and not finishing with that, she kicked my side throwing me to the floor.

"Aghh-"

Without letting me groan she kicked me again in the stomach making me tremble in pain. When I saw her charging her leg again, I realized that if this continued like this, I was going to die.

Enduring the pain, I quickly covered my belly, making her hit my arms. It hurt like hell, but again enduring it I extended my arms and grabbed her ankle, and then pulled.

This wasn't enough to make her fall, but it made her lose her balance for a moment. That moment was enough for me to roll away and get up.

My whole body hurt but I couldn't let that disrupt me. Rachel looked surprised that I was able to escape. But that wasn't able to stop her, since she started to throw punches again. But unlike last time, now I was able to evade her hits and even managed to send my fist, but it was useless since she evaded it like it was nothing.

I was growing more tired with every movement I was doing. This had to end soon because she wasn't even sweating, so it was clear that in an endurance fight she was superior.

Suddenly, an idea occurred to me. A stupid one specifically, but since I was without anything better, I proceeded with it.

In one of her punches, I let it hit me, a thing that wasn't too difficult since they were almost touching me every time. After that, she took the opportunity of that and tried to repeat what she did earlier.

But when she hit me in the abdomen with her knee, I grabbed her knee, and like an animal, I jumped with my head toward hers.

It was very stupid, but when I felt something hard hitting the top of my head, I knew it worked.

I released her knee and dropped dead on the ground. Then, I looked where Rachel was, still standing while holding her nose and looking at me with a bewildered face.

"You... Did you just hit me with your head?"

When I saw her expression, I thought of what I had done, and that made me laugh like crazy.

"Hahahaha, I hit you! Hahahaha!"

While I was laughing, 07, who also had a perplexed face, stated the results.

"Ehhh... Well, since Aaron was able to hit Rachel once, he wins!"

"I can't believe it..."

Rachel looked at me again, as she started talking.

Sight-

"I can't believe you won, but these are the results. This evening, come here again. We will make a plan for the mission."

Without a goodbye, she left. Then 07 approached me, still laying on the floor.

"You did it. You should also see Rebecca."

"Yeah, I should. Help me get up."

And like that, I managed to live.

A/N: Hi, author here! I will start writing here the author's thoughts since I tend to ramble and it doesn't fit in the actual author's thoughts.

Anyways, here is finally the fight against Rachel, and I'm going to be honest, I am not satisfied with the quality of the chapter, but I did it with my actual writing abilities, so when I get better, I will come back and rewrite it better. But what is your opinion of the actual chapter? Let me know in the comments.

Also, in school they have put me like 5 test for the next week, so I don't know if I will be able to post on Friday, but I will try.

Another thing. This chapter ends the starting mini-arc, and the next chapter starts the first major arc: The first mission! So wait for it and I hope you like it.

Last thing. Ashen Sun is going to appear in Fresh Novels! I am happy although I don't even know what it is, and probably it won't be that important, but anyway, I am happy about it.
