9 - First mission [1]

There was a lot of noise. I could see people running, and almost everyone was shouting to be understood by the people who went with them.

We were at the airport. It was the day after the fight with Rachel, and since I won, everything proceeded with normality.

While we were going toward the security check to get to the boarding area, I remembered how we got to the airport.

**********************************************************************

In the morning, we met in the training field, and from there, we went through several hallways and finally reached an elevator. More than going together, it was more accurate to say that she was leading the way and I was following her. I became suspicious again but didn't say anything.

When the elevator's doors opened, what I saw was...

'The warehouse of a store? Wait, EVERYTHING that was underground was under a store?! Even the pool?!'

While I was feeling some part of my brain explode, Rachel was already getting out. I quickly rushed behind her, and I finally saw what kind of store it was. It was a library.

There were several bookshelves repleted with books of all types. There wasn't anyone apart from an employee who ignored us like we didn't exist.

We got out of the library, and I saw a city, one that I could recognize since I had already been here years ago with my family. We were in Boston. That was a surprise. I hadn't expected the base to be here, although I didn't even think where it could be. When I looked back to the library I saw a sign where 'Ashen Moon' was written.

'They didn't even try to hide it that much. Unexpected, with all the secrets.'

"We have to be at the airport before midday. In a minute or so, a car will pick us up."

"Ah! Yes!"

As she said so, a black car stopped in front of us. It was a luxury car that surprisingly, didn't stand out as much as I would have thought. Then Rachel opened the door to the back of the car and entered.

"Let's go."

I entered the car with her, and in the interior, a black screen separated the driver from us, so we didn't know who was driving. After I closed the door, the car instantly accelerated, and we started moving.

After a while, the car finally stopped, and Rachel got out of the car, with me behind her. I looked around and saw that we were at Boston Logan International Airport. I remember being here years ago. At this point, a sudden thought entered my mind.

"What about the luggage? Shouldn't we have luggage?"

Rachel looked at me when I said that, and then opened the trunk of the car, and there were two bags. I was surprised, I didn't know that was there since the Boss didn't tell us when we were in her office. And once again my suspicion grew. I was certain there was something about Rachel and the organization, but what was it? I didn't know, but what I knew was that the most probable thing was that even if I asked I wouldn't get any answer.

"Come on, take one."

"Okay."

I went toward the trunk and grabbed one of the baggage. It was heavy, but not enough to make it impossible to lift.

'I wonder what is in here. I guess I will know it later.'

With that, we started walking toward the airport.

Present:

"Everything is checked, sir Black Ellis."

As the person in the security check told me that, I smiled, grabbed my luggage, and started walking again. I looked to the right and saw Rachel, who had finished her check too.

"Hi, Evelyn! Are you done?"

"Yeah! Let's go to the airplane."

With that, we started walking again. One of the things that were in the baggage was the new identities we will have while working for Kyle Beck, our objective. My new name was Black Ellis and Rachel was now called Evelyn Hunt. This would be our identity until we kill Kyle.

The thought of killing made me shudder. But I kept my composure and continued walking. Although we had a plan, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about what would happen if we failed the mission. Lots of things could go wrong, but if we stick to the plan, nothing should go out of the way.

While I was thinking about those things, we had already reached the plane and Rachel was searching for our seats.

"They are here. Come."

"I am going."

Snapping out of my thoughts, I went toward Rachel and sat on the window's side, then she sat beside me. The interior of the plane was simple, with three seats on one side and two on the other, that was where Rachel and I were sitting.

After a while, all the seats were occupied, and someone started talking through a loudspeaker. I could hear a lot of people talking, so it was difficult to understand what was being said, but I could find out that we were leaving.

Not long after that, the plane started moving. It wouldn't be too long until we are in New Jersey. When we were there, the mission would start and it could only end with our objective dead.

While I was thinking about that again, I heard some voices talking from behind.

"Did you hear about the accident a week ago?"

"What accident? There were several."

"The one of a school bus full of students."

Flinch-

When I heard what they said, my heart started beating hard and my face became pale. One part of me didn't want to hear what they were going to say, but the other part did. But because we were on a plane seated, there was no other option apart from hearing what they had to say.

"Oh, that one. Yes, I heard about it. It is very tragic, although you could say that there was luck since only two students died. If I'm not wrong, it was a girl and a boy. I pity them, what will the parents be feeling?"

I was shaking, every word they said stabbed my heart. The ones that hurt more were the ones about my family. I evaded thinking about it since the thought of it made my heart ache.

It was true. How was my family? Were they okay? This train of thought was making me more miserable. Until suddenly I felt a touch in my right hand. It was Rachel. I looked at her in surprise and saw that she had a soft smile on her face.

"It's okay. Your family will be fine."

She then approached me a little and whispered to me in the ear.

"Maybe in the future, you will be able to meet them again."

My eyes widened in bewilderment and I looked at her again. She had a grin on her face.

"But for that, you will have to do the missions well, alright?"

"Yes!"

With those words, my stress was relieved a little. I now had an objective. I had to do it well so I could maybe see my family again.

With those thoughts, I started looking to the future with a little more hope.

Hi, author here. Someone told me to reduce my rambling, so I will do it and I will go straight to the point.

I'm sorry for not posting yesterday, I had finished the first round of exams (yes, first round), and yesterday I was dead tired so I couldn't write. Also, I'm going to keep the schedule the same as it was when I started, a chapter every 2 or 3 days.

Also, I'm making a discord server but I'm taking my time with it, but if you want it earlier tell me in the comments.

As always, if you find any mistakes let me know and I hope you liked the chapter!

I hope to see you in the next!
