783. Inviting The Guests

A soft knock.

When they got no answer, Mill tried again, a little harder this time, and she heard someone yelp before they sped to the door, pulling it open. Madeline stood in front of them, her hair in disarray and sleep marks were all over her face. She was dressed in nightclothes still, and it was clear she was just waking up.

Mauve could barely contain her surprise. It was well past evening. She hadn't even considered the fact that Madeline might still be asleep, and she felt bad for interrupting the woman's rest just so she could invite her for the first meal.

"My lady," Madeline curtsied as she caught sight of Mauve. "I apologize for presenting myself in such a state."

"No, I should apologize for waking you up," Mauve replied immediately. "I didn't expect you to be asleep. That was a miscalculation on my part."
