Sylvia sat in front of the lake in the forest at the back of the pack house.
Birds were chirping and everywhere was quite peaceful for now.
She prayed no one should come and disturb her. Disturb the little tranquility she was enjoying...
A sudden noise distracted her. Sylvia looked back.
What was that?
She waited to see what it was.
A minute...
Two...
Nothing showed up.
She bent her head as she let her mind wander.
Her plans were slowly progressing...
Just a little more time and her pack would be free from the clutches of Alpha Nolan.
Alpha Nolan was currently the Alpha of the two packs; the Stone Moon pack and the Crescent pack.
She couldn't back out now. If she didn't succeed, then her pack was doomed.
She was slowly getting close to the Alpha.
However...
The suffering continued... The taunts...
After her little saga with Selena days back, she had been steering clear out of her way.
Or should she start using her powers on other members of the pack?
No, that could make the Alpha angry...
Alpha Nolan decided that members of the Stone Moon Pack should remain at their former pack house. He didn't want his pack house to become crowded...
She wasn't sure about how they were fairing... But she was 100% sure they weren't fairing well.
She needed to act fast, and yet she needed to take things slowly. She couldn't rouse any suspicions; she had to continue to endure the sufferings.
Her stomach rumbled slightly. She was hungry.
But she had to wait till all pack members were done with their meal before she could help herself to the leftovers.
How did it turn this way?
'Damn you Nolan' He was the cause of all this...
Was he?
Of course not. The problem stemmed from the plague.
That was the genesis of the whole matter.
If not for that god-damned plague, everything would have been the same.
She wouldn't have been a beta in a rival pack.
She would have been in her pack house. She would have been the Alpha of the Stone Moon Pack.
But the deed was done...
Lamenting wasn't going to help.
After her plans came to fruition, she would take her back to the Vampires kingdom.
She might be welcomed there. She was after all the daughter of the vampire princess.
Were they going to turn down her request?
The problem was that Vampires and werewolves were currently at odds with one another.
She sighed... If that didn't work, she would find another alternative.
But hiding in the vampire's kingdom could save her.
Was her grandfather aware of his daughter's death?
According to what her father told her, her mother was no longer part of the Vampires.
Against the wish of her father, she got married to Alpha Devon... That broke the heart of her father and he disowned her out of anger.
The vampire princess, Princess Avira wasn't bothered by her father's decision. Her only concern was to be with her lover and mate.
A slight rustle jolted Sylvia from her thoughts.
She turned and saw Xavier coming in her direction. She smiled at him, and he smiled back.
Among the pack members, Xavier was the only one who treated her like they were close buddies. He treated her well. Sylvia made sure to reciprocate his gestures toward her.
Whenever he could, he would try his best to defend her against his pack members.
Both of them were very close and since Xavier didn't have a mate, it wasn't a problem.
"Why are you out here?" Xavier settled himself on the ground beside her.
"Hiding from the pack." She replied with a smile.
"Are they busy?" She asked him.
"Playing cards.." He started humming.
"And why didn't you join them? You don't know how to?" Sylvia smiled a little.
"Underestimating me young lady... I didn't feel like it." He laughed.
Sylvia laughed too. It was only when she was around Xavier, that she felt free and didn't have to be scared.
"How about we race?" Xavier suggested, his eyes lighting up at the prospect of racing with Sylvia.
"Nope. I'm a little bit tired." Sylvia shook her head negatively.
"Tired? What made you tire...." His words stuck in his throat when the realization struck him.
Of course, it was the handiwork of Alpha Nolan. Hurting and emotionally damaging the poor lady.
He was yet to be mated. He hadn't found one yet.
He glanced at Sylvia. She was so beautiful... And she had a heart of gold. She was different from all of them in the pack. And she wasn't toxic.
The first time he saw her, he was mesmerized. He had hoped she was his mate
He waited to perceive the scent unique to mates; he didn't perceive anything.
She wasn't his mate.
He then decided to be her close friend.
"Alright then... Let's just sit here. I will keep you company." Xavier picked a stone and threw it into the lake, making a 'plop' sound.
"Thanks, Xavier" Sylvia nodded thankfully.
