THE WOMAN IN THE PORTRAIT

Sam stopped after walking into different rooms to find Damon,he finally found Damon's room. He knocked at the door hoping to get a reply from him but when he got none, he simply opened the door and entered the room. Compared to the other rooms he entered, this dimly lit masculine room was large and empty. And just like the living room, this particular room was even more dull looking. The walls were slate grey and despite how large the room was, there was only a bed and a closet in the room but that wasn't what caught his attention. What caught his attention was the large portrait of a woman hanged at the centre of the wall. The drawing looked so real as though the woman in the portrait was in this room with him, whoever had drawn her must have been an expert.

Sam's gaze remained fixed on the portrait as he stared at the woman in the portrait. He was amazed to find a portrait of a woman in Damon's room that he wondered who this woman was. He could tell that this woman was someone special to him but he had never heard of Damon having a lover, in fact, he believed he had spent most of his years searching for the infamous witch even though he didn't know the exact reason why Damon was after her life, he guessed she must have done something evil to him judging that she was a notorious witch. He sighed as he couldn't even find the person he came here to look for. 'Where could he be?' He turned back to leave but was startled when he saw Damon at his front giving him a stern look. Sam was so sure he wasn't in this room when he entered the room, how come he was standing here? There was no way he could have entered the room without him not feeling his presence.

"What are you doing here?"

"I knocked before entering." Sam quickly informed him to avoid being beaten by the demon for entering his room without knocking.

"So?" Damon scratched his brows as he gave a bored expression.

"I just wanted to let you know."

"You still haven't answered my question." His cold deep voice echoed in the room.

"Uncle Jonathan told Pam and i to prepare dinner for Margaux but there was nothing at the kitchen that was why i came here to inform you." Sam spoke nonstop without leaving a detail. He watched the demon furrow his brow before walking towards the closet, he opened it and brought out a bundle of money. Sam watched him with his eyes widely opened as Damon handed over the bundle of money to him.

"This should be enough to buy the things you need." He said handling over the money to Sam.

Sam smiled as he collected the money from him. This was obviously more than enough to buy all the food stuffs they would need. 'Seems like the demon has a lot of money to spend, I'll kindly help him spend it.' He smiled devilishly at his thoughts as he planned on collecting more money from Damon by telling him that the money given to him wouldn't be enough to buy the food stuffs but as he was about to speak, they heard a knock on the door. Sam watched his Uncle, Jonathan enter the room and slightly bowed at Damon. "What a perfect timing." He quickly hid the money from his Uncle before leaving the room.

"Long time, Jonathan." Damon said as he sat on the bed.

Mr Jonathan smiled at Damon, looking at the portrait hanged on the wall before averting his gaze from it. "She had a little fever but I'm sure she would be fine after eating and resting." He paused and looked at Damon. "What do you plan on doing to her?"

"Making her regain her memory." He simply replied.

Jonathan sighed as he knew it wouldn't be easy for a human to remember her past life although the human in question wasn't an ordinary human, she was once a powerful witch, maybe regaining the memories of her past life might not be hard for her. He just hope Margaux would remember her past and then Damon would finally end it all. He knew Damon had gone through a lot and he couldn't even imagine the pain he had always felt looking at this portrait, even he couldn't bring himself to look at the portrait. He could still vividly remember the memories of that day, that day he had sworn to kill Margaux and feed her body to the vultures and he knew that the only reason she was still alive till this moment was because she didn't remember the memories of her past life. He could only pity the human girl because he knew Damon would do anything just for her to regain her memories and when that day shall come, not even the woman in the portrait would be able to save her from him.
