"Hello, are you lost?",she asked.
Her voice was soft, very gentle as against what she was expecting. Laura walked towards her and she chuckled when she saw her take a step back, her back hitting the railings of the balcony. She was scared, that much was certain but what she couldn't understand was the look of care and adoration she saw in her eyes. That wouldn't be good because she wasn't expecting that, she had everything mapped out and this was something unexpected.
"No, I'm not. I actually came to see you", she said.
"Me? But I don't know who you are?", she said.
"Well, I know you. You're Liyah", Laura said.
She stood before her, taking her hands in her's. If she was to carry out her plans, she needed to do this even though she hated every minute of this. If this didn't work, she had no other option but to employ the second method, one she had been itching to use since the beginning.
"Oh yeah, I'm sure everyone knows who I am. It's my birthday after all", she said.
"Yes and why do I think you don't look so happy about that", Laura said.
"Because I don't really like all the attention I'm getting. This is not me, I'm not used to all these", she said.
"So you prefer somewhere quiet and much more relaxed?", Laura smiled.
"Honestly, I do. Don't get me wrong, I love the party and my gifts and my family but sometimes, it's all too much", Liyah said.
"I understand how you feel and trust me, that's the same thing I'm feeling right now", Laura lied.
"Oh, is that why you're up here? Hey, wait. I don't even know your name or who you are", she said.
Laura chuckled, apparently she was smarter than she thought which only proved that she wouldn't be easy to kidnap but with the way her eyes stuck to her, she knew it would be a fair game.
"My name is eve your father and I go a long way", she lied smoothly.
She saw a look in her eyes but she couldn't quite make out what it was. She smiled, touching her hands lightly. That was all Laura needed, she had finally fallen into her trap and she sure as hell wasn't going to get her out.
"How do you know my father? He's never talked about you", she said.
"Well, it's been a bit long since I saw him because I've been away on some business. I recently got back to the country a few weeks ago and I said to myself that I wouldn't miss the birthday party of the famous girlfriend of my close friend.
Liyah blushed as she looked away. Laura smiled, if only she knew the thoughts she had against her, she wouldn't be here smiling at all.
"Oh... I see", she said.
"So, would you like to go away with me to somewhere quiet where we can spend some time alone. It would help me get to know you better, I want to be your friend", Laura said.
She saw the look of indecision in her eyes.
"I would love to do that, but my boyfriend...",she said.
"Trust me, Alpha Jed and his son wouldn't mind. Do you know I once catered for you when your parents were away on a one week trip", Laura lied.
"You did? Anyway, I wouldn't have known, I was still little", she said.
"So, what do you say Liyah? Will you come with me on this ride?", Laura asked.
"Definitely but I hope we won't stay so long because I need to get back in time to cut my cake", she said.
"Don't worry about that, of course we'll be back in time", Laura said.
Liyah smiled, walking towards him. Laura took her hands, guiding her out of the building. She couldn't imagine her luck when there was no one in sight to stop them. This just proved to her that she was destined to do this.
"Are we going on foot?", she asked.
"No, my car is somewhere at the back of the building", Laura lied.
Her intention was to steal a car then drive them towards an old abandoned warehouse she had taken weeks to repair. Drew didn't know about this and she wanted to keep it at that. They got outside soon as Laura walked steadily towards a car that was already in his sight.
"Hold on, let me get my keys", she said.
She pretended to search her robes for the key and when she wasn't looking, she tapped a security key on the car which enabled her to open the door without her breaking in.
"Get in", Laura said.
Liyah smiled, getting into the car. Laura couldn't believe how stupid she was, she needed a lot of lessons if she was to learn not to trust any stranger she saw.
Laura drove off with a screech, a small smile on her face for getting this done without any problems. Liyah was almost too easy to lure, especially since she was just an adult today.
"So where are we going?",she asked.
"We'll be there soon", Laura said vaguely.
She had constructed the road that led to the warehouse in such a way that one would find it hard to track them if they tried. The warehouse was in the middle of a big field and this served as an added advantage because she would know when they had visitors.
Laura drove towards the road, cutting out the light from the vehicle. With her wolf powers, she could see very well in the dark. She could sense Liyah's fright as she drove towards a particularly dark path. She chuckled because she had no idea what she had in store for her.
"Eve, where are we really going?", Liyah whispered.
"You'll see soon and stop asking me questions", she snapped.
Her patience was running thin and the only thing that stopped her from lashing out was the plan she had. There was no use rushing things when there was something she ought to follow.
"Eve, stop this car now", Liyah screamed.
Laura slapped her hard across the cheek and she was satisfied when he heard the sick crack of her hands against her cheek.
"Who are you?",she sobbed.
Laura put the car to a stop in front of the warehouse. She climbed out, coming over to drag her out of the vehicle.
"Please, don't hurt me", Liyah sobbed.
"You'll say anything to save yourself", Laura growled.
She dragged her by the hair towards the building. She pleaded and begged but she paid deaf ears to her pleas. Her mind was made up and there was nothing she would say or do that would make her change his mind.
This was the beginning of the ride and Laura was prepared to face anything. She knew her people would come looking for her and she was ready to meet them. This was a do or die affair and only the strong will emerge the victor.
The only thing Laura was worried about was Drew. He had done a lot for her and she knew that it wouldn't be a good thing if she left just like that. Her eyes found liyah who was still unconscious as a result of the blow Laura had dealt her. She hissed, staring at her with a lot of disgust in her eyes. Alpha Jed and her stepbrother had treated her with a lot of disdain and hurt and Laura wasn't going to spare her, not today or ever.
She sighed, allowing her wolf to come out. She was due for a run but at that moment, she couldn't leave liyah for fear of her escaping. Laura didn't trust any of them and there was no way in hell she would trust this one. They were all the same and there was no telling what they were capable of doing if she took her eyes off her. Laura had made a mistake once but this time around, she would never make the same mistake.
"Stupid, the whole lot of them." Laura seethed.
She shifted back into her human form, staring at the Moon that stood afar. The first drop of tear slid down her eyes as she thought about the pain she had passed through in the hands of her step father and his useless son.
Laura sniffed, wiping the tears that fell from her eyes. She was sad and dejected and totally downcast. All her life, she had been living in fear of what might have happened if she was allowed to live a normal life. She was an Alpha but her stepfather and his son made sure she never remembered it. There were times when she doubted herself and just thought to end it all but when she thought about her revenge mission and how she wanted them to feel the pain they had made her pass through, she was determined more than ever to make them suffer.
With a determination, fueled by the desire to succeed, Laura walked out of the house, leaving liyah a pathetic mess. She needed to see Drew and tell him everything she had done. It wasn't fair on her part and his if she completely cut him off. He needed to know what she was doing and how she intended to do it.
"I hope he doesn't send me away." Laura muttered.
Drew had a temper, that much she knew. She had seen him lose it countless times. She could only hope he didn't turn his anger on her. If he did that, she had no other option but to walk alone.
