A Date with the Devil

I told Ava and the others I was going with Nicholas and would see them at home. Ava told me to be careful and I reassured her I was perfectly safe with Nicholas by my side and that I trusted him. She smiled and let me go, giving Nicholas a warning glare but I saw it and giggled when he pulled me away from the guys who were asking for my number, before glaring at them as they ran away.

"We're taking my car." I told him as I spun my keys around my finger and went towards my car, the latest Mercedes model. He glanced at the car then at me, his hands in his pocket and he raised his eyebrows.

"This is yours?" He asked me and I gave him a wide smile.

"Yup." I said, popping the 'p'.

"You didn't have it before." He said.

"I left it back home because I thought I wouldn't need it here. I love walking too and Cole already had a car. The distance wasn't that much either." I told him, opening the car but he took the keys from my hand.

"I'm driving." He said and made me sit in the passenger seat despite my protests. He started the car and hummed.

"This is a nice car. So you're rich?" He asked me and I shrugged.

Loaded, sweetheart.

"Eh." I shrugged and he started driving.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked him and he placed his hand on my bare thigh, drawing light patterns on my skin and I felt a tingling sensation there.

"Can't say." He said.

He stopped at an upscale fancy restaurant, and someone opened our doors and a man held out his hand for me to take. But before I could do anything, Nicholas hand took mine as he pulled me out of the car and led me inside the fancy hotel where people sat in fancy clothes.

Heads turned to look at us, photos were taken and some even gasped. A woman took our coats and the manager greeted Nicholas before leading us to a secluded table near the window where a beautiful view of the city was visible.

I sat in my chair as a server placed our menus, and I scanned it quickly.

"What would you like?" Nicholas asked me as the waiter poured our wine. Nicholas tasted it and nodded to him and he poured some for me too. I gave him a small smile and thanked him before he left.

"The Moroccan Chicken looks good." I said and Nicholas nodded, gesturing a waiter with his hand and ordering for us. We stayed silent before I finally decided to speak.

"Why did you bring me here?" My question took him by surprise but he grinned at me.

"Because I wanted to." He answered and I shook my head.

"Why me? I'm sure you have many models or famous beautiful women waiting for you. Then why me?" I raised my eyebrow at him and he took my hand in his, tracing my knuckles lightly.

"I don't want any of them." He took a deep breath before adding. "I want you."

My breath hitched at his statement and I blushed before averting my gaze. We stayed silent for another while before he cleared his throat.

"Favorite color?" He asked me and I looked at him.

"Mine?" I asked him and he nodded. "Oh. Uh.. blue." I answered him and he smiled. "You?"

"Black." He spoke. That was expected.

"Your dream?" He asked.

I thought before speaking. "Travelling the world." I answered smiling and he nodded.

"Where do you want to go first?" He asked and I smiled.

"Rome. Definitely." He smiled at me this time and my heart melted at the sight.

"Ti ci porterò un giorno." (I'll take you there someday.) He said and grinned at me. "Why are you studying literature?"

"Simple. I love books. I love how they can make you feel so many things all at once. The suspense of not knowing what's going to happen and the satisfaction of a happy ending... I just love it so much." I smiled at him and he grinned.

Just like how I feel with you.

"What is it that you exactly do Mr. Gangster?" I asked him and he chuckled.

"Business." He said and I nodded.

"What type of business?" I asked him.

"I own some companies, some hotels, restaurants, and many more. This restaurant is mine." As soon as he side this my eyes widened and I gasped.

"Really? That's so cool!" I said and he chuckled.

"What does your father do?" He asked.

"Oh. He's a Professor at a really prestigious university. He teaches Math there." I told him.

"And you mother?" He asked me.

"She's a publisher." I told him and he nodded.

"Who was that guy Daniel? And why was he calling you Dovey?" He asked me and I could hint the poison in his voice when he said Dan's name.

"He's Ava's boyfriend.. And you remember that girl who called you my sugar daddy?" He nodded with a smirk and I blushed. "Well, she's his younger sister. Dan and Ave met at the campus two years ago when Ava came to visit me. They met at a dinner party. And for the record, all my friends call me Dovey." He narrowed his eyes at me before sighing.

"You're close to this Daniel, yes?"

"Yeah.. He's a very good friend and like a brother to me." I smiled at the mention of him.

"And Dave. Who is he?" He asked and I furrowed my eyebrows before I realized whom he was talking about.

"Oh right, Dave. He was one of Daniel's friends. I've never met him before. Ava and Dan wanted to introduce me to him. They were playing matchmaker." I rolled my eyes and Nicholas scoffed.

"Why didn't you tell your sister about me?" He asked me and I could hear the hurt in his voice.

"I-... I was going to but then we went shopping and to the theater so I didn't get a chance. I was going to tell her tonight." I felt like I needed him to believe me. I didn't know why though.

"Fine. I believe you. But why did you let that fucker kiss you?" He sounded impatient and angry now and I patted his arm.

"Calm down Nico, it didn't mean anything." I told him and he raised his eyebrows.

"Did you just call me Nico?" He asked and I frowned before realizing.

"Huh. I guess I did. It suits you, no?" I asked him and he smirked.

"You can call me whatever you want." He said and I beamed at him.

"How about asshole?" I asked him and he scowled.

"No."

"Ugh fine. Nico it is."

I knew I was pushing my luck too far.

"And no more kissing other guys, okay?" He said firmly and I nodded, knowing he wouldn't care whether I said yes or no becuase he would have his way.

"Don't worry, it didn't mean anything.. I didn't even feel any spark between us. It was so dull." I sighed and Nico smirked.

"And do you feel that spark with me? When I touch you?" His traced his fingers on my arm and I felt the electricity. "When I kiss you?" I blushed.

"Yes." I whispered and he grinned, knowing he'd won.

Just then our food came but Nico didn't let go of my hand, instead, held it tighter. The food smelled amazing and when he finally let go of my hand, he picked up his glass of wine and I did the same.

"To us." He toasted.

"To us." I clinked my glass with his and took a sip of the delicious wine, savoring its flavor.

And to a good relationship ahead.
