"Wait, that's Noir from the A-class and the student in front of her is Cai Lyn. She's in our class," Naomi told them.
"She was that person sitting near the window on your left side, so you probably remembered her, Cross," Rebecca said.
True. Cross remembered her for sure. She was the mute girl who never spared a glance at him no matter how he tried to get her attention.
Without saying a word, he nodded. Looking back at the situation, it seemed something was about to happen.
Cross immediately stood. "Aren't we supposed to help stop the fight?" Cross asked.
Cross thought it would be his chance to look cool in everyone's eyes. Just like what Adam said, he needed to impress his target.
"Don't even bother, Cross," Rebecca opposed him. "Those two are the princesses of their families and they were members of the same family clan, the Blue Delta."
"They belong to the same clan?"
"Yes."
"Wait. Blue Delta?" Cross frowned slightly. "You mean the Blue Delta which is said to be one of the leading clans in the country?"
"That's right," Rebecca nodded.
"I heard that their families were not on good terms with each other. Both families held the same power and authority in their clan," said Naomi.
Indeed. If two families in the same clan held the same amount of power and authority, a rivalry is bound to happen. That is one of human nature, being competitive. But perhaps there's more to it. However, bystanders wouldn't know the real reason for their rivalry, just them, the involved party.
Rebecca shrugged her shoulders. "That's why, even if we want to stop them, there's nothing we can do against them. Aside from that, their mana scores are a lot higher than us, especially than you."
"….."
Cross fell silent and could not find a word to rebut.
"Rebecca is right. I heard they've got above 90 mana scores. Mine and Rebecca's is 80 above only. See the difference?"
Hmm…
"Shut up," Cross whispered.
"….."
Cross felt like a hundred tons of metal block fell on him at the mention of it.
"R-Regardless, we can at least report it to the disciplinary department, right?" Cross tried to suggest another option.
"Oh, about that. Sadly, most of the departments are temporarily inaccessible right now due to what happened this morning. All the department heads were in the conference right now, and the members of each department were sent to various parts of the city that was affected by the Zergs attack this morning," said Naomi.
"The disciplinary department was short-handed in the first place. So, right now, there's nothing they could do about it."
"What? So, there's no other option… damn…" Cross slightly gritted his teeth as he looked at the two girls near the counter.
"Don't worry there are surveillance cameras in every corner of this place. Their little conflict will not grow into a more serious fight. I'm sure of it," Rebecca said reassuringly.
They understood if Cross didn't know about it. After all, he just transferred to this academy this morning.
"Oh, I see. That's good to hear…" the corner of Cross's mouth slightly curved upward. Actually, he knew about the cameras. But, Cross just wanted to look cool in everyone's eyes.
Looking at the situation, it seemed Noir along with her four friends walked in front of Cai and slapped away Cai's ordered food.
"What is your problem?" Cai shot an indifferent glare at Noir.
First time Cross heard her voice. It was somewhat beautiful even though she looked slightly angry.
Noir raised a brow without cowering from Cai's glare.
"I don't want to see your face where I wander. Let's decide it in a duel. The loser will leave this academy."
"Hey, a duel? I like that idea. But, why don't we make it into a competition between clubs instead? With that, everyone will enjoy it. Right everyone?" Someone chimed in, out of nowhere.
Everyone looked at the owner of the voice. They saw a person with a pale-looking handsome face and medium-length blond hair walking where the two girls were glaring at each other.
"William is right," another person said, agreeing with his proposal.
The girls, Cai and Noir, looked at the person with the name William. "Get lost, William. Bystanders are not invited to this. This is between us only," Noir bellowed. Her tone was cold. On the other hand, Cai showed an indifferent expression on her face after seeing the newcomer.
"Aren't you just afraid of embarrassing yourself if I beat you two?" He licked his lips as he said that.
Cai shot a glare at William while showing an expression of disgust. On the contrary, William looked even more fascinated with her expression.
"Who is he?" Cross whispered a question, pointing at the newcomer.
"He's William San~or~."
Cross misheard Rebecca's reply because she was chewing something when she said it.
"Sanport? I don't remember hearing it." Since he said it at a normal volume, the others around them heard it. His voice even reached where William and the others were.
"Uh—?!" From Cross' response, Rebecca and Naomi were at a loss for words. The expression on their faces looked like they could not believe him.
Cross wondered why they suddenly looked at him like that.
"Eh? Is there a problem?" He asked innocently.
"Damn! That freak. He just said the most prohibited word in the presence of William," a student said.
William's family name was Sanford and not Sanport. Sanport was a brand name of a popular toilet paper in the country, that's why William gets annoyed every time his family name gets mistaken for that. The least he could do is beat up the person who made the mistake.
"He's as good as dead," a student muttered.
"What an idiot," said someone while shaking her head.
Rebecca looked like she was in a panic. "W-Why did you have to say that?" Rebecca whispered with a ghastly expression.
"Eh? W-What?"
But, indeed, I didn't hear about the Sanport Family, Cross thought inwardly. He was unaware that the person in question was now showing an unpleasant expression toward him.
The expression on William's face was like that of someone ready to kill a person.
He glared in the direction of Cross with his one eye covered in shadow and his other eye surfaced red veins because of anger.
