(Ravine POV)
I am here in Beverly's office again and now, she's more concerned than ever because I burned my fucking hand. I appreciate the fact that she cares for me but it's slightly getting annoying already.
She cares so much to the point of she's babying me already. I am not a kid anymore.
"Would you mind telling me what happened yesterday in the lab?"
"Why are you so nice to me?" I asked in annoyance.
She looked taken aback with my tone.
"Excuse me?" She asked.
"I don't mean to sound disrespectful but I just want to know why you care so much for me." I said.
"What makes you say that?"
"I am the only student that you constantly baby." I said.
"Well, maybe because there's something in you that I really find special." She said.
"There's nothing special in me. I am just a freak." I said.
"Why do you consider yourself a freak?" She asked.
Of course, I cannot say "Ms. Beverly, I think I have telekinesis. I made Nick's nose almost bleed to death and my telekinetic mind was the reason why the flame went up like that in the lab."
"I just am a freak. I have some abnormal qualities, I guess." I said.
"You know what? I am also a little bit of a freak. I know exactly how you feel." She stated and honestly, I feel like strangling her.
That is one of my biggest pet peeves ever. I hate it when people say "I know how you feel" when they literally don't.
"You shouldn't say that." I snapped.
"Say what?"
"That 'I know how you feel' crap, it isn't true." I said.
"But it is true, Ravine! There are days wherein I feel I might not be normal or something's wrong with me but that's okay because nobody's normal and that's what makes you distinctive and unique as a person. What I am saying is we can all have our own definition of normal, we don't always have to conform to society."
"But you don't understand, I am not saying this because I feel like an outcast or something. I am saying this because I really am a freak. I can do some things that normal people cannot do."
"I know how you feel, Ravine."
"NO, YOU DON'T!!!" I screamed in frustration, and suddenly, the water dispenser exploded.
We both got startled causing us to jump from our seats.
I suppose I am the one who did that. Great! Three strikes already! Let me pull out my checklist: Nick's nose, check! Bunsen burner, check! Water dispenser, check! What's next? JJ's Tesla?
"I'm sorry, I have to go." I said as I rushed to the door.
"Ravine, wait."
I slammed the door shut and ran as fast as I can. This has to stop. This seriously has to stop.
I was running and running until I ran into someone.
"Oh sorry, I'm…" I shut my mouth the minute I saw who it was.
Frida.
"Ravine, are you okay?" She asked.
I immediately grabbed her and pulled her into a hug. It took a moment before she hugged me back.
"Frida, something's wrong with me." I said, not letting her go.
"What is it?"
"Promise me you won't tell anyone."
"I promise."
"Promise me you won't laugh." I whispered.
"I promise."
---
"What is it, Ravine?" Frida said. We are currently in my room right now and I locked the door just in case someone peeks through it.
We are sitting on the floor in front of each other and there's a candle between us.
"Watch what happens, okay? Let's stand back a bit since I don't plan on burning my other hand." I said.
We both stood back, as far away as possible from the candle and then I began doing my first attempt in activating my telekinesis.
I stared at it but nothing's happening. Come on, don't make me look like a fool in front of Frida.
"Ravine, if you don't mind my question, what's supposed to happen?"
"Just wait for it."
I relaxed myself and began doing my second attempt. This time, I maintained my focus and I felt like I am doing a better job than before.
I waited and I waited but still…nothing's happening.
"Ravine, I have to go to the bathroom." Frida said and it infuriated me.
"GOD, JUST FUCKING HELP ME!" I shouted followed by the huge and loud crack on the wall.
Frida and I gasped.
"What the fuck?" She said.
"See!! You see that?! Do you believe me now?!" I said. She just looked at me, dumbfounded and gobsmacked.
"How…How the hell did you do that?"
"That's the thing. I have no idea as well. I think I have something called telekinesis, are you familiar with that word?"
"Yeah, yeah! That's something from the movie, Carrie, right?"
"Exactly. Now, I didn't want to tell you this earlier because I know that you will automatically think that I am messing with you but I am not."
"Holy shit. Telekinesis does exist. I thought that only happens in movies."
"Clearly not!" I said.
"Well, you have to learn how to control that. Otherwise, you are going to keep destroying objects."
"I don't know how to control it yet but I think there's a pattern to it." I said.
"What pattern?"
It only comes out in my moment of anger and frustration. When Nick bullied me in the school corridor and he said those horrific things to my face, I have never felt that angry in my life so that's where it started. Secondly, the Bunsen burner incident in the lab, the stupid burner wouldn't work causing me to be frustrated. Third, the water dispenser, Ms. Beverly is annoying the crap out of me earlier in her office, drawing an intense scream out of me, which caused the dispenser to explode and now, the wall has a huge crack because I got annoyed with Frida's skepticism.
I now got the formula to it so what I have to do next is to try to control my temper.
