Chapter 19: The waiting room

(Ravine POV)

Marco, J.J. and I are currently in the waiting room, anxiously waiting for the doctor to tell us Frida's condition. I felt like this was on me. If it weren't for me, this wouldn't have happened. I bowed my head in guilt. I cannot lose Frida. She's like a sister to me already.

J.J. then held my hand and squeezed it.

"Stop blaming yourself, Ravine. It's not your fault." He whispered.

I looked at Marco and he looked very uneasy and very agitated. He paced back and forth, very distraught of what happened to Frida. I cannot blame him. He and Frida definitely developed a special bond as they were getting to know each other. It's so obvious that they genuinely like each other.

Tears are starting to run down my cheeks and J.J. noticed it. He wiped my tears away before leaning my head down on his shoulder.

"Frida's going to be okay. Don't worry." He said.

A doctor suddenly approached us and said that Frida is basically in a comatose and he has no idea when she is going to wake up. That did it for me. I practically sobbed so loud that J.J. ended up pulling me into his arms and began consoling me like a little child.

I looked at Marco and there was a mix of anger, brokenness and pain in his face. I couldn't blame him at all if he's holding a grudge against me.

After all, it's all my fault.

---

The very next day, I was still in the hospital just staring at the wall blankly. I haven't gone home yet, I haven't eaten yet, and I haven't showered yet. I just couldn't leave Frida here all alone.

The elevator dinged and out came my parents, Frida's parents, Ms. Beverly, Sister Blanche, Rita, Jenny, Joan and Ms. Myrna.

I ran to my parents and hugged them since I haven't seen them for quite a while.

"Ravine, I am so glad you're okay." Mom said.

"Frida's hurt and it's all my fault." Right now, almost everybody was beside me and comforting me.

"It's no one's fault, son! Nobody wanted this to happen." Dad said.

I went to Frida's parents and apologized for what happened.

"I'm so sorry, it should have been me, you know. Why couldn't it have been me?" I was sobbing again.

"Ravine, don't say things like that. It's not your fault, sweetheart. Right now, as much as I want to cry, I won't because I know I have to stay strong and stay positive for my daughter and I hope you do the same." Frida's mom said.

(Marco POV)

Have you ever felt the feeling of having your heart stabbed before it getting ripped out of your chest? That's exactly what it feels like.

The moment my wolf and I heard what the doctor said, that he has no idea when my mate is going to wake up. Everything stopped. My whole world stopped.

It's so fucking surreal in the worst way possible because I was just getting to know Frida. I have only dated her for like weeks and now, there is a possibility for her to not wake up at all. This can't be happening to me right now. Is the universe messing with me?

I swear to God, I am going to find the fucker who ran her over and I am going to personally open him up and spill his guts down the ground. I am then going to wrap his intestine around his neck until he chokes to death. Mark my words.

I am currently in the hospital cafeteria and as much as I tried my best to eat, I couldn't. My mind is telling me to but my body is just rejecting any form of food right now. Frida's condition is taking a toll on me.

Someone then joined me at the table and it's Ravine.

"Hi!" I said.

"Hey Marco!" He smiled sadly.

"How are you?" He asked.

"I haven't eaten yet. I haven't even gone home yet."

"Same here." He replied.

As much as I want to try and engage in a conversation with him, my wolf and I are too tired and devastated to even talk to someone.

"Are you mad at me, Marco?" Ravine asked.

"I am not mad at you. I am mad at the asshole who ran her over. I want to find him and personally slaughter him for what he did to my mate."

"Your mate?" Ravine asked.

"I mean, my friend." I said. Oops, that was close.

"I couldn't imagine my life without her, you know. I no longer treat her as a friend, she's already my sister. We have been through so much. I just…I hope she makes it." Ravine's voice is breaking.

I went up and sat next to him. I pulled him to my shoulder so he can just cry his heart out as much as he wants.

"Marco?"

"Hmm?"

"Tell me she will be alright. Tell me she will survive this." Ravine whispered.

"She will. She'll be alright. She'll survive and she will wake up and you will be with your sister again."

Please, moon goddess, not yet! Don't take her from me yet. I promise to be the best mate there is for her. Just give me the chance to love her and be with her forever.
