Chapter Twenty-Six

Carson jumped out of bed at the sound of the alarm going off. His wife rolled over and stared at him with an amused look.

"Honey, you know your not a hero anymore. You don't have to get up for the alarm, " she said while stifling a yawn.

He grabbed a pair of pants and threw them on before turning back to his wife, who was lying on the bed naked, covered by a white silk sheet.

"Sarah doesn't know about the alarm. I'm just going to go check on her," he said while pulling on a shirt.

Elena smiled, as she often did when Sarah's name was mentioned. She stood up, wrapping the sheet around herself, and headed towards the closet.

"That's true, and no one will be able to sleep with that annoying alarm going off, so I might as well make some tea for everyone, " she said while rifling through her closet.

Carson entered the living room. He immediately noticed two things wrong as he did so. The couch was vacant, with no sign of Adam, and Sarah's bedroom door was slightly ajar.
