Raid: Den of Dire Wolves (Final)

"Clearly not…" I muttered, my eyes grazing down to her shaking shoulder, which she quickly grabbed with another hand.

"Once you get out of here, you'll be captured. I just wanted to let you know that since I want to fight you on even grounds again,"

"It seems some of the dogs are more obedient than I initially thought,"

The arrowhead dug deeper into my skin as those last few words slipped out, but soon the entire arrow was retracted, and I was allowed to breathe easy as she disappeared into the thick fog covering our camp.

"Seems I'm gonna have more trouble,"

We soon headed off in just a couple hours since as soon as the fog disappeared, everybody coincidentally woke up… well, it was probably the work of the archer.

Continuing our way further into the dungeon, we soon found ourselves in front of the boss room, which was just a massive gate.

But with the leader slowly opening it, a grand entrance of an array of flickering blue torches illuminated the room.

"Nobody let your guard down… the boss may be massive, but its stealth is unmatched," The leader warned everybody, but it seemed the inexperienced ones didn't really believe him.

I mean, both massive and unmatched stealth contradicted each other… but once we reached the center of the room, they noticed what he meant.

[Shadow Flash Wolf - Boss]

[Health Remaining: 6000/6000]

.

From behind us, a massive fifteen-meter-tall wolf with pitch-black fur and dull gray eyes greeted us, its single horn sparkling with a flash of white lightning.

ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAR

It let out an ear-shattering roar that soured through the room and nearly burst the eardrums of everybody unprepared for the sudden attack.

"Stay behind… I can protect you," Faye muttered, but I just rolled my eyes and fulfilled my position as an assassin, quickly flanking to the sides.

As soon as the wolf lunged towards the tanks, who quickly repositioned, a few projectiles were shot at the beast, causing it to disappear into thin air.

"BEHIND!" The leader shouted as he pointed behind our formation.

The wolf appeared from the dim shadows that escaped the illumination of the blue torches and went in for a slash.

TING

Though, I was already behind and deflected its massive claw away and circled around it, forcing it to swivel its head and reveal an opening for the swordsmen, who then got in a few stabs and slashes.

"[Smoke Magic]," I muttered, causing a wave of smoke to erupt from my mouth, and as I circled around the rabid beast, again and again, it soon became blinded.

But, this smoke that I produced was contained around the wolf and didn't spread anywhere else; otherwise, it would've been completely useless.

The smoke almost seemed to have a chokehold on the beast as it grabbed its neck and nearly forced its way into every open hole of its body.

Especially its mouth which was seemingly pried open by the gaseous material surrounding it.

With another sigh, another blast of smoke erupted from my finger tips and completely shrouded me in smoke, allowing me to easily jump up atop the dazed wolf and use [Empower] to strengthen my muscles.

[Haste] was soon activated as well in order to gain that extra bit of momentum, which completely tore through the outer layer of the wolf's neck.

Blood sprayed the air as the wolf attempted to go into its second phase, only to be stopped by my blades that dug deeper into the wolf's nape, not even a few minutes later.

The horn on its head attempted to elongate in order to achieve its second phase, but soon… it dropped to the floor, motionless, as the smoke around me began to thin out.

As I stood atop the corpse, I looked down at the gawking idiots who couldn't even keep their mouths shut.

"Now, let's clean this up,"

"Stop gawking like a bunch of idiots and start working," I muttered, hopping off of the corpse and landing next to Faye, who was surprised by how well I fought.

"Th-that was crazy… I didn't know you could fight so well…."

The previous times, I was struggling because of the horrible matchup, and after getting a skill I was very familiar with using, of course, I would become much better.

Though, my body kind of ached from twisting and contorting so much.

"Mhm… Anyway, start working… or are you going to get your lackeys to do everything again," I taunted the woman.

Her expression contorted just a bit from annoyance and then to acceptance, where she just lightly smiled, walking over to the raid team and helping them disassemble the monster corpse just before we went into the boss room.

"Was cool to see you fight in the flesh… taking down a C-rank monster by yourself is an impressive feat… though, you did have smoke magic to help you… how lucky," The archer muttered as her pupils vibrated slightly.

"Mhm…"

After dissaemebling and getting everything we could sell out of the boss' corpse, we went over to the open hole in the stone wall where a pile of untouchable gold greeted us.

The only gold we could actually take was the gold holding our rewards in the massive wooden chest just plopped there in the center of the room.

Needless to say… all of the rewards were trash, and I didn't want any of it besides this one thing that caught my attention.

"I hope you don't mind me taking this," I muttered, my eyes darting to the leader, who just lightly smiled.

"Take whatever you want. You deserve it… well, except for the gold, of course. The contract means we have to split it,"

"I'm fully aware," I muttered before picking out the delectable item and just waiting to be teleported out of here.
