Why Aren't You Asleep?

Walking out of the room after cleaning up, I went to the bedroom to get a file.

As I stepped inside, I saw that Pearl was already back. She was sitting on the bed in her nightdress.

"Oh, you're already back." I said with a small smile.

Hmm. What're you up to?" She asked as she pulled her legs onto the bed.

"Nothing, was just cleaning up after Arthur left." I answered as I sat down at the edge of the bed.

"Oh, Arthur was here?" She asked.

"Yes, he just left." I said with a small contented sigh.

"I see." she said with a yawn.

"Ah, you must be tired... I'll go out, you rest up." I aid as I stood up and walked over to the door. Remembering what I was here for, I hurriedly grabbed the file from the table and walked out of the room.

Closing the door behind me, I walked to my study. Stepping inside, I walked over to my chair and sat down.

I sat and looked through the files for a small time when I got a call from Arthur.

Picking it up, I put the phone to my ear as I opened another file.

{Hello.} Arthur said.

"What do you want?" I asked as I kept my eyes focused on the file in my hands.

{Why aren't you asleep?} he asked with a grumpy tone.

"I have to get some work done, then I'll go to bed." I answered as I closed the file and put it aside. "Why aren't you asleep?"

{I would be sleeping right now if it hadn't been for all the coffee we drank.} Arthur answered.

"Oh, yeah, forgot about that." I said as I picked up another file and started to read through it.

{And you better not be reading a file as we speak.} he said.

"Ofcourse, I'm not reading a file while I'm talking to you. What do you take me for?" I asked offended as I put the file I was holding down on the table.

{Well, whatever. Go to bed. I want to see you tomorrow first thing, we need to refresh you're game stock.} Arhtur said.

"Yeah, yeah, goodnight." I said and cut the call.

Putting my phone down on the table, I picked up the file again and finished reading it. Getting up a couple of minutes later, I walked out of the study and went back to the bedroom.

Sitting on the other side of the bed, I checked through my messages one last time then went to bed.
