Mama's

Ivy walks through the E.R., noting how busy it is, "Edwards, vomiter in bed five. Please rule of obstruction."

"Yay!" Edwards tells her.

"How are we doing?" Ivy asks her brother.

"Shes in all right shape, but she's complaining of abdominal pains," he tells her, gesturing to the patient.

Meredith comes up to her as Ivy goes to walk to the nurses desk, "Okay, Ivy, what do you have?"

Ivy points, "MVC, bed three. Shepherds doing a neuro consult, but she's complaining of stomach pain. Dr. Pierce."

Maggie looks around, "Busy morning."

"Yeah, when it rains, it pours. Can you check on chest pains in bed six?" Ivy scrolls through her tablet.

"Got it. Am I still good to come over to talk tonight?"

"Of course. Jackson will be in our room and the twins might be with us or him," she nods.

"I'm good with having the twins, they're so adorable!" Magge tells her before walking to the patient.

Ivy mumbles to herself, "Of course they're adorable. I mean, look at who they're parents are. Kepner, bed one."

Nicole wheels the next patient in, "20 something female carjacking victim-multiple lacs and confusions, open tibia fracture, hypotensive and tachycardic."

Owen and Wilson help Nicole get her into a trauma room as Ivy sighs, "This was a carjacking? And from the looks of it, a hell of a beating."

"Wilson, you're with me," Owen tells the resident.

As the patient start freaking out about her car, Owen grabs her hand, "Shh, Shh. Whats your name?"

"Melissa. My car-

"Melissa, I'm sure your cars fine. We're gonna take care of you, okay?" Ivy puts on her gloves.

"Wilson, go see if anyone came in with her," Owen directs.

Closing the curtain, Ivy turns to the nurse, "Dr. Hunt in trauma one needs an ortho consult."

April joins her as Luke is lead in by Jackson, "April-"

She hugs Luke, "Hey, uh, I thought you were on the-"

Luke smiled, "Yeah, your mom's flight got in early, so I brought her here."

"Why would you do that?" April asks as Ivy puts her head in Jacksons chest to quiet her laugh.

"Cause she wanted to see you. Jackson said I could set her up in the attendings lounge. Text me when you get a second. Love you!" He tells her as he starts walking away.

"Sorry, uh, what was I saying?" April asks, looking very disoriented.

Ivy stops her, "Hey. Just in case your mother gets to be to much, Maggie's coming over tonight, so if you need to, come join us. No drinking, just talking and being friends. Remember, she's your mother and you love her."

Hearing a knock on the door, "Coming," she sets Christopher and Alexus down with some toys before opening the door.

"Hey! I brought cupcakes," Maggie holds up.

"Well, then, you are permitted to enter the Avery household," Ivy gestures for her to come in.

Jackson walks out of their bedroom, "Hello, Dr. Pierce."

Maggie rolls her eyes, "If I'm going to be over here, you can call me Maggie."

He nods, "Okay, then you should call me Jackson."

The twins start babbling on the floor as Alexus crawls to her dad and Christopher crawls to his mom, "And these little ones, are Christopher and Alexus. Come take a seat on the couch and I will grab the snacks."

"Do you want me to take the twins into the bedroom with me?" Jackson asks, wrapping his arms around Ivy from behind.

"I don't know. Maggie? Are you good if the twins are out here with us?" Ivy calls out.

"Yeah, of course," she says.

Jackson kisses Ivys neck before nodding, "All right. I'll be in our room going over board stuff. Have fun."

Ivy smiles, before moving out to the living room, "All right. Tell me, what ended up changing your mind about leaving Seattle?"

Maggie shakes her head, "Meredith, actually. She showed me my-our-Ellis' journal from when she was pregnant with me. I-they invited me to dinner with them tomorrow night."

"Oh, dinner with the Shepherds... yeah, good luck with that," Ivy laughs.

"You are making me more nervous than I already am! I mean, Meredith hasn't really liked me so when she came and invited me to her house, I was surprised. Should I be scared?" She rants.

Ivy shakes her head, "No, no, no. This is a perfect chance for you to get to know Meredith some more. It's low-key and Derek will be there as a buffer. But, with him there, she might focus on her anger with him more than her feelings about you. So honestly that dinner can go multiple different ways. All you need is-" theres a knock on the door.

"Uh, excuse me a second," she gets up and finds April on the other side, "Momma Kepner driving you crazy?"

She nods, "Yes. S-shes so condensending and Luke is just letting her and-" April catches sight of Maggie, "You have a guest. I am so sorry!"

Maggie waves the apology off, "Its fine. Mother troubles are seeming to be a pattern around here."

Ivy snorts, "Wow. She's been here less than a month and already pinpoints half of all of our problems. Sit down, there's some food for you and grab a twin."

April does as she says and picks up Alexus. Maggie looks between between confused, "Why pick up a twin?"

"Its just something magical to look in a toddlers eyes. When I have a bad day, they seem to sense it. They laugh and giggle and cuddle with me. It makes everything that is wrong just...fade away. Because I know that whatever problem I am having, it's okay because these little people are mine," Ivy smiles picking up Christopher.

"Thats sweet. I'm guessing you have had a lot of twin time since your fight with Derek?" Maggie leads.

"Yeah. I don't know. That's just a whole big mess that I'm eventually going to have to sort out. I mean, he is my brother and one of the few members of my family that actually talk to me," Ivy kisses Christopher's face.

April sighs, "Is this going to turn into a lecture of some kind for me?"

She nods, "April. Your mother may seem overbearing, but she cares. Speaking as someone with a mother that couldn't even pretend to care about her own daughter at their wedding, your lucky. Speaking as someone who also has an overbearing mother in law, it's good to have someone like that. Jackson nor I had the family that doted on us or passed on loads of advice. We just had Catherine and Derek. You have the chance to raise your child the way you were. Loved. At least tall to your mother or else there will come a time when you're parenting and you don't know what to do and you may not be able to call her."

Ivy stands at the nurses desk, pretending to look at files as she watches Luke and April talk in a trauma room. Jackson joins her, "Okay, stalker lady. Why are you watching them?"

"Did you know that Luke's mom is like yours? I mean, his doesn't call April three times a day-" Ivy starts.

"My mother calls you three times a day?"

"Yes. The first time is only talking about family. How I'm doing, how your doing, how the twins are doing. Even sometimes how Webber is doing. Then the second call is about this hospital and what I think of the happenings. Oh, plus us working out how to get these doctors eligible for a Harper Avery. Then the third call is about me learning more about the foundation and trying to convince your mother that the twins don't need to be in board meetings when they are 15."

Jackson sighs, "I'm sorry. She me-"

Ivy stops him, "Means well? I know. That's why I don't really care. It's nice to have someone treat me as their daughter. It's nice to have a mother. So I'll take the multiple phone calls because she cares."

Walking out to the ambulance ambulance Edwards and April, Ivy notices Mrs. Kepner, "Edwards, start his workup. Dr. Kepner and I will be there in a minute."

She pulls April away, who sees her mother, "No, Ivy, I can't talk to her right now. I-"

"Have a mother who cares. Do you know what I would give to have that? Anything. April, your mother wants to give you her love and advice. She wants to help you. Go talk to her while I start with this patient," Ivy pushes her.

"Fine. I'll talk to her," April grumbles.

She smiles before heading back into the E.R., "Geez, I'm glad I wasn't that stubborn when I was pregnant."

Ivy finds Jackson reading to the twins in the nursery. He's sitting in the rocking chair with a twin in each arm, "Hey."

He looks up, smiling at her, "Hey. They're loving the book."

"Yeah. So much that they've fallen asleep," she giggles.

"Oh, uh, I didn't even notice," he looks down.

Standing up, he puts each twin in their respective crib. Ivy walks over to him, hugging him, and then kissing him.

Jackson smiles, "Not that I don't love it, but what was that for?"

She wraps her arms around his neck, "For being the best daddy ever. And the best husband. The twins and I are lucky go have you, Jackson."

"You see, that where you're wrong. The twins and I are lucky to have you," Ivy scoffs as he says this, "No, really. Ivy, I know you think that you're a burden but you couldn't be more wrong. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I look at you each morning and just think of how unbelievable it is that I get to call you my wife. The mother to my children. I know your childhood was crappy and I'm sorry. But one thing that you need to realize is that you are not a burden. You don't need to take care of everyone for them to love you."

"Jackson."

"I love you. I'm the lucky one. If you ever feel like you're a burden, talk to me. I'll remind you of how wrong that is," he kisses her forehead.

Ivy smiles, "Okay. But I'm not making up with Derek yet. I have to sit and let him stew a while."

He laughs, "Of course. Now, let's go to bed."

She nods, "Please."

Jackson picks her up before spinning her around, causing her to giggle. He then picks her up bridal style and carries her to their room.
