Chapter 1

Shoto woke up with the worst feeling of dread he'd experienced in a long time. His father had disowned him the night prior and kicked him out of family dinner. Why was Natsuo allowed to stay but Shoto wasn't? Sure, Natsuo was slightly straighter than Shoto, but Enji didn't know the difference. Was it because Shoto was the only child he (somewhat) actively paid attention to? To be honest, he was probably furious that his 'masterpiece' of a child wasn't as perfect as he chalked him up to be. But that doesn't matter anymore.

Shoto lethargically threw the comforter off his body, swinging his legs off his futon and onto the tatami matting with a groan of annoyance.

Last night was a blur. He remembers that his father disowned him, he remembered accidentally outing himself, and he remembered being kicked out of his home. He did not remember how he got back to the dorms or at what time. Did he brush his teeth last night? Too late now.

He stood slowly and stretched. What time was it?

Oh.

It was 11:30 AM.

He missed first period.

Well, if he hurried, he could make the ending half of studyhall.

With that in mind, Shoto grabbed his uniform and quickly changed. He brushed his hair and teeth, grabbed his bag, and ran out of his room.

While he walked through the halls of the UA he felt as though kids were staring at him, whispering about him, judging him. He paid it no mind, as kids usually stare at him anyway for his appearance.

When he walked into the 1-A classroom, a decent amount of his classmates were there. Uraraka spotted him almost instantly and traipsed over.

"Sho… what happened?" She asked, tilting her head slightly.

"What do you mean?"

"Oh… um… well, word is going around that Endeavor disowned you. That can't be true, can it?" Uraraka looked at him with sympathetic eyes. She loved her own parents very dearly and couldn't imagine being thrown out.

Shoto clutched his backpack straps tightly. It was true. "Yeah. It's… it's true."

"Why? Why would he do that?" She looked incredibly worried.

Shoto pondered over telling her. Being gay is slightly frowned upon in Japan, would he even be able to be a hero anymore? It's not that it mattered, being a hero is what his dad wanted from him. Now his dad doesn't even want him. Originally only Momo knew, but now his mother, father, sister, and brother know too. Mind as well tell the whole world at this point.

"He… he kicked me out… because… because I accidentally told him that I'm gay." It hurt to say those two words. Those simple two words. Those two words that could get him jailed or even killed in some places. Those two words that can cause relentless bullying. Those two words that make people threaten and attack you. Those two words that make you lose friends and family. Those two words that can take your career away. Those two words that cause people to stop looking at you the same way.

I'm gay.

Those two words that made his father, his own flesh and blood, abandon him.

He heard a slight gasp from Ochako, since this was news to her. He couldn't even look her in the eye- too afraid of the things she'll have to say.

Before he could spiral into a pool of worry, he felt this warmth. A comforting warmth. Ochako had given him a reassuring hug. The kind of reassurance that can't be strung together properly enough with words.

He didn't hug her back and before he knew he had begun sobbing, this only make Ochako hug him tighter.

"Why… why am I like this?" He muttered in between sobs.

"It's not your fault, Sho." She whispered only loud enough for him to hear as she softly rubbed her hands on his upper back.

"One accidental sentence was all it took, though. It is my fault because I told him. No one else could've been able to tell him, only me, so it's obvious whose fault it is." He argued back softly, he felt like he'd thrown his life away.

"You're right, it's obviously nobody's fault." She said, pulling away and playing her hands firmly on his shoulders.

Shoto quickly wiped his own tears away, but he couldn't make eye contact with Ochako.

"You didn't ask to be born attracted to men, Sho. You didn't choose to be. You didn't choose to tell him, either. Accidents happen on their own, Sho." She said, rubbing her thumbs back and forth on his shoulders.

Shoto pulled a soft, almost invisible smile. She was right.

"Let's go sit down, okay? We'll have class in five minutes." She smiled at him.

Why was she so nice? Even before she was friends with him, before she even knew him, she was so nice. He should give her Endeavor's credit card as a thank you. Wait, no, she could get arrested for that, nevermind. Maybe he should buy her something nice using Endeavor's credit card? Yeah, she can't get arrested for being given a gift, right?

"Okay." He nodded. Maybe he should ask Midoriya what Uraraka would like as a gift.

Uraraka may be nice, but other people in his class weren't.

People like Minoru Mineta, who heard their whole conversation from where he hid behind the frame of the door.

Mineta, who has proven he resents Todoroki for many reasons, was not going to let the opportunity to ruin his reputation slide.

Soon, the whole school would know that the Ice Prince himself, Shoto Todoroki, is gay.
