IT A'INT ME

Inside the emergency room, Adson keeps on convulsing on the bed, his heartbeat on the electrocardiogram is so abnormal that the waves are so congested on the screen which is worrying. Two doctors are beside him trying to stabilize his condition.

his soul is doing its best to escape the overdosed body, the intoxication with glucose, it tries to detach from the body but being the first time, it is becoming futile, with all the might and energy his body gives a loud thud that immediately makes him fall unconscious, his soul escapes into the doctor Gregory, his body jerks backwards with the incoming spirit, unable to contain two souls, the host soul escapes to the soulless body lying on the bed. "What just happened here?" Adson's body manages to say as the pentazocine puts him to sleep.

"I think he is stable and we can we leave him for now" Doctor Andrew says to Greg who is trying to figure out why his body suddenly feels so huge. Andrew gives a second look at his coworker who doesn't look to good, he thinks it’s the fatigue that has caught up with him as they had not rested since the emergency from last night. Doctor Andrew decides it would be best to shoo him off to take a rest as that he will finalize with the boy.

Dr. Greg takes the offer gladly and steps out of the room before he makes a fool of himself. As he comes out of the room, he almost bumps into his family waiting with eager faces. “Doctor how's Adson doing?" Dayne asks first. Is he going to be fine?" the siblings also inquire. The father too comes rushing to hear news about his son. "Mum am fiiiiiine, I mean you must be his mother and he is going to be fine." the doctor replies. "If you please excuse me I need to attend to something urgently. The other doctor will give you a full report on him" he walks away from the somehow relieved family and continues along the corridor confused and not sure where to go. He rushes into the men's restroom to buy sometime and comprehend what’s going on.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" he screams on seeing the reflection of him in the mirror. He is supposed to be an eight year old boy not a twenty eight grown up doctor, he had never dreamt of being a doctor at one time. He cannot stand sickness, let’s say seeing sick people sickens him the more. "How did it happen and why am I a grown up man all of a sudden." he mutters to the confused reflection in the mirror. "If you hadn't eaten all that cake, your body would be a reasonable temple to live in." he says to himself, "now you have to meddle around being a doctor till all that glucose has been absorbed into your tissues." the body says to the new soul, confusing the little boy the more.

Few minutes later he walks out of the bathroom less nervous. outside the corridor Nurse Patricia calls him reminding him that he needed to check on a patient 356 to see if she’s ready for dismiss, he follows the nurse to a different floor far from where Adson's parents are waiting for him.

Inside the room the nurse asks him to checkup the patient and give her the report, "what do I do now," he thinks to himself. "Check your lab coat pockets for the torch, as the brain I will do the thinking and as the soul you command the body to do the talking and moving". "So you mean I can communicate with the body and without anyone noticing, that would be cool!" Adson says. You better start working as you figure things out instead of standing there, you will make me look like a fool" the body says to him.

Dr. Gregory moves to the patient who silently looks at him, takes out the hand held flashlight and performs the pupillary exam. Moments later he deduces that the patient is ready for discharge but needs plenty of rest on reaching home. He signs the dismissal formal and hands the clipboard back to Patricia who says that he looks jollier today. He simply smiles at her and claims it’s a beautiful experience. He walks out to go meet his office and explore the hospital while he is still a doctor, maybe there could be a lot than to battling viruses and bacteria, as an exploratory kid, he's already excited to navigate the place. On the sixth floor he meets a woman sobbing on the bench, the body tells him not to try to inquire from her why she's sobbing if he won’t be able to help but he is Adson and Adson prefers to do the opposite of what he is told.

"Mum what could be the matter?” he asks noticing the boy his age seated next to the woman. His cheek is swollen. "The dentist won’t even look at my son because i don't have enough money." She replies. "Come with me," he says but the body says it’s a bad idea.

He reaches the reception and informs the receptionist that the area minister has sent the woman to assess the situation, at first the woman doesn't buy the story till he points in the direction of the group of executives that have stepped out of the elevator. The receptionist's eyes grow wide with shock and fidgets to check the woman into the system and quickly informs the woman that the dentist will see her son in less than three and at no cost. The executive team walks up to the reception and greets the people at the reception. One of the men that looks outstanding from the team holds the boy and says to him "you will be fine son".

When they step out of the hospital, the body asks Adson who that was and he claims he had no idea but he is glad he walked in and saved a life at no cost with his presence. As they are still bragging of his heroic actions, his pulled back into his body and Greg back to his. It has already been three hours and Doctor Andrew had stabilized the sugar levels in his body.

When Adson woke up two hours later, he was both glad and sad to be in his body, sad because he still wished to venture into being a doctor, find out if the dentist had treated the boy but most importantly, he had been a man, he had felt beards on his body, not to mention some parts of him felt so big. At his age, that was the best thing that could have happened to him. On the other hand he was glad he was back to being himself, now he could make amends and correct his sister’s birthday before the day ends. His mouth felt so bitter and wondered what medicine the doctor could have given him.

When they reached the mall, Adson got to the mall, he even picked the blue cake for he sister because he was very sure Aimine preferred blueberries to strawberries. He couldn’t believe when Mr. Ousman the manager rejected the shopping voucher and claimed the boy will need it. Despite the protests from Mr. Baines, the mall manager refused the card and said Adson had earned and he believes the boy was a hero and that’s how Adson got to keep his unlimited shopping voucher for the mall.
