chapter sixty nine

it had been three years,

Fred couldn't forgive Joan.

Joan was working in a popular company said to be own by a young man,

Kimmy and Fred had been dating.

Maxim and Callum had stick around, Callum was close to Joan, helping her to keep on searching.

Nick's parents were still waiting for him

and Joan blamed herself for everything that happened, Fred told her about that conversation that led to the misunderstanding but it was too late he was no longer around

"are you ready to go back, are you sure you will be fine," Mr. Bruce asked Nick

"yes"

"my daughter Alice will come with you, because she's a doctor also, I need her to be around you, I hope you two finished the business over there and come back"

"Alice take care of him, he has been through a lot, he found solace in doing this business, I gave him the money but he paid me back, Alice I don't own that business I am only a shareholder so don't stress him ok" Mr. Bruce said

"don't worry dad, I will take care of him" Alice said

on the plane

"we will be arriving soon, I hope you will be alright" Alice asked

"I will, I won't see her, she forgot me and might not even remember me, she's happy without me and I won't force myself on her, we will be done in about a month and we will get back home. so don't worry Alice" Nick said

"3 years, yes it's been three years since that incident. I won't be shattered again, I don't even feel anything" Nick said in his mind

but was it true. if he was to see Joan today what will he do, will his feelings surface or it will indeed confirm that he no longer feels anything.

"Joan"

"yes boss"

"don't call me boss, the real boss will be here today, I was supposed to pick him at the airport but I need to make sure everything is ok here, I heard he doesn't tolerate nonsenses, so I need to prepare the team for him"

"why this late Mr. Luke"

"the news of his arrival came today itself when he was about to board the plane. so please I want you to meet him and bring him here. please Joan" Luke said

"ok"

Joan went to the airport to pick him up.

when she got there she wondered around because it took them hours to get there, maybe she came there too early.

when Nick stepped out of the plane his heart kept on beating, he held his chest

"calm down she's not here, she's not here" he said

"are you ok" Alice asked

"let me get some drink, wait for me here. do you want one"

"no"

Nick left for the drink, he was wearing something casual, he didn't look like he was going to a business meeting.

when he got there, he heard someone

"AAA if it was going to take this long then why did he send me here, I can't believe him, I am tired and I didn't even eat" Joan said

"the voice, that voice, sounds like Joan's," Nick said and turned around but she was not there

"she's not here, relax" he said in his mind

when he reached out for his drink he met a feminine hand, he gazed up and saw her

it was her but his mind didn't want to accept,

Joan also stared at him

it was him, she found him and he was ok before she could say something he left, she followed him
