Chapter 29: Cake land

Third person POV

Nanon was thinking about how to confess to Puimek and surprise her for her birthday. He was thinking about that for past 3 days but can't come up with a good idea. He browsed google for ideas, mostly it was cliche. Some of them were interesting but it was either expensive or so much time consuming. He felt it was not worth it.

"Nano, how is it?" Chimon asked doing a ramp walk and did a small twirl with his new shoe. They are currently in footwear shop at mall, to get new shoe for his wedding. As a part of deal, Nanon accompanied him to wedding shoppings.

"No, it doesn't suit you" he said and Chimon pouted. Nanon went and searched the collection and came with a new black shoe. He showed the shoe straight to Chimon's face who was trying to remove his shoe. Chimon glared at him and Nanon smiled apologetically. He sat next to him. "Try this" he said handing him the shoes.

Chimon let out a big sigh and removed the shoe he was wearing. He got the shoe from Nanon and tried it. Nanon helped him. Chimon got up and did a small walk. "I will get this. It is more comfortable" Chimon mumbled and removed them.

"Did you thought about any idea?" He asked handing the shoes to staff for billing. "I don't know Chi..everything sounds cliche." Nanon said sighing heavily.

"You call it cliche, some call it classic!" Chimon said winking. "Any classic ideas that caught your attention?" He asked. Chimon can say many ideas but he wanted Nanon to think and come up with his favourite. After all, it is his crush.

"Yeah, there is one." Nanon said smiling.

"What is it?" Chimon asked curiously. "It is making a birthday wish video. We should get wishes from all their favourite people and compile into a video..." he said "and you can add your confession at last" Chimon completed his sentence. Nanon just nodded his head.

"It is very classic but it will work. You should do this" Chimon said with an encouraging smile.

"But how would I know her favourite people? I barely knew about her" Nanon voiced out his hestitation.

"Arrghh..." Chimon wanted to pull his hair in frustration. "Idiot! You have to work for it! You can't expect for everything to come and fall in your hands" he said hitting him.

"Do you know someone close to her?" He asked and went to pay the bills. They both got the shoes and came out of the mall. Nanon was silent thinking till they reached the parking lot.

"Yeah! I know someone" Nanon yelled like Archimedes which echoed in that underground parking.

"Great! I was this close to thinking you are a lost cause" Chimon said showing the gesture in his hand. They reached the car and Chimon kept the bag at backseat. Nanon as usual took the passenger seat and Chimon went to drive the car. They slowly came out of the parking.

"Ok who is it?" Chimon asked once they reached the road. "It is Namtarn, her room mate and childhood friend. She introduced her when I went to her flat" Nanon said looking out.

"Ok then text her and ask for meet up" Chimon said and Nanon looked confused.

"What?" Chimon asked annoyed. "I don't have her contact" Nanon said in a matter of fact tone.

"So what? Find her social media account and DM her!" Chimon said rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, I could do that!" Nanon face lit up.

"Aissh...you are so dumb!" Chimon said shaking his head in a tired manner.

"Ok she agreed for meetup. When and Where should we meet her?" Nanon asked after few minutes.

"How about tomorrow? Ask her to come to cakeland around 11" Chimon said after thinking for few minutes. "Ok, fine" Nanon texted her and she agreed to meet him.

"Are we going there only to meet her?" Nanon asked suspiciously. He knew Chimon would select somewhere close and less fancy for friendly meetings. But cakeland is far and quite expensive place.

"Nope. Tomorrow we are going for cake tasting! We will select the cake for wedding" he said grining wide. "I just hit two birds with one stone" he smiled proudly.

"That's not a big deal" Nanon said, but Chimon couldn't care less of what he thought.

He dropped Nanon at his house. "Be ready around 10. I will pick you up" he said and left.

Nanon waved back and went inside. His mom was watching some series when he entered. She turned off and asked him to sit.

Nanon without any question sat next to her.

"Nowadays you look more happy Non!" She said caressing his cheeks. "I know mom. After reconciling with dad and Chi I feel more happy" he said nuzzling into her palm.

"Look at you acting like a kitten" his mom said chuckling. "Of course, I am tiny kitten.. meow...meow" he said playfully showing his dimpled smile.

"At least cat feed costs less than feeding this brat!" His father said playfully as he came inside.

"Oh dad! How can you hurt a small kid?" He asked showing his puppy eyes. "Hey stop that. Its annoying!" His dad said and he laughed. They were more happy now, all thanks to Chimon. Nanon owes so much for him, than he could imagine.

After a fun family dinner, he laid on his bed. He took his mobile and messaged him. It was just a simple 'Thank you' and 'Good night' message. He waited few minutes for reply but he didn't get one. Slowly he fell into a contented sleep.

I was waiting at the front porch for Chimon. My mother was watering her plants, occasionally talking to them. She says they have soul and can listen when we spoke. I don't know how far it is true. My only experience with gardening was occasionally watering them when my mom was not available.

A car horn woke me from my thought. It was Chimon. He opened the door and came to hug my mom. "How are you Mon? How is the wedding prep?" She asked to him.

"I am good aunty. Preparations are going well" he replied shyly. "Oiii my boy is getting shy" my mom squealed like a fangirl. "Mom! Stop teasing him!" I pulled him away from my mom. "Come on Chi, let's go" he waiid politely and we both left.

I got the keys from him and went to driver seat. Without any protest, he let me drive. Our ride was filled with soft music playing in the radio. "Hey Nano, why did you said thank you last night?" He asked turning off the radio.

"Yesterday I was super happy, we 3 had a fun filled dinner after a very long time. It happened only because you helped to mend the relationship between me and my dad. That's why I sent that message" I said driving and taking a side glance at his face. He did a small smile.

"If you are going to thank me, you have to say for lot of things" he said smiling. "I know" I said smiling back. He turned on the radio again and went back to looking outside.

We reached at correct time. We got a nice seat and waited for Namtarn. After few minutes she came in rushing. She was looking around searching for me. I waved to her. She quickly joined us.

"Thank you P for coming" I said as soon as she reached our table. She smiled back but was looking at Chimon.

"He is Chimon, my friend" I introduced him and waiid smiling. "Oh my god! He looks so cute!" Namtarn was giggling. Chi blushed at the compliment.

"Ok why did you want to meet up?" She asked after placing her order. "Uhm...P, I like Puimek. I am going to confess to her on her birthday." I said and she was shocked. I explained my plan fully and she was looking confused.

"Ok Non, your plan sounds good. But how can I trust you?" She had a point. If someone comes and ask for details about Chi, I will not give it immediately.

"P, can I say something?" Chi who was silent all the while, spoke now. He convinced her to help me. He assured her, I was serious in this and vouched for me. He said all my positives  which I myself didn't know, to her. After a long explanation and few minutes of deep thought, she finally agreed.

"Ok Non, I will message you about all her favourite people and their contacts tonight." I smiled widely and thanked her.

She got her bag and was about to leave but came back.

"If I knew, you hurt my friend, I will kill you" she warned and left. I was afraid of her now. I never thought she had hid her killer smirk under that sweet smile.

"I am sure, she will kill you" Chi was laughing at my terrored face. "Being a dumbass, you will sure mess up hurting Puimek" he also explained his words.

I glared at him, which made him laugh more. He got up and said something to the person in counter and came back. After few minutes, the staff brought few plates of different cakes.

"This is lot! Why did you order so much?" I said surprised at the many number of plates in front of me. "Your work is done. Now let's get to my work." He said glaring. Right! How can I forget we are here for cake tasting?

He took a piece of cake and his face showed no emotion. Not even bothering to take another bite, he went to next plate. I was watching his expressions when he tasted those cakes. Some made him smile, some made him take another bite, for some he kept a straight face.



"Ummmmm this is so yummy" he moaned after taking a bite from new plate they placed. "If I can eat cake like this, I can get married more than once" he said dreamily. I chuckled seeing him.

"Just so you know, you need not get married many times to have some cake" I said and his head immediately shot up. "Not some cake, its a heavenly cake" he said and fed me a bite. I almost moaned at the taste. Now I agree with what he said.

"This is it. I will finalise this." He said and got up to place the order. After he left, some staff came to clear the table. He returned with two plates of the same cake and gave one to me. "This cake tasting will be the favourite part of this wedding" he said smiling.

Suddenly I remembered we didn't even have wedding cake when we got married. It was my request to keep it simple. "Chi, what will you do when your partner said they don't need grand wedding and have simple one, not even with cake cutting?"

I asked curiously.

"If I loved them, I would agree" he said casually and my heart skipped a beat.

"What if Pluem asked you to cancel this?" I asked. He thought for a second. "I don't know. But after all the tasting, I am definitely not going to agree" he chuckled.

I don't know what answer I was expecting, but definitely not this.

He loved cakes but didn't want to have one in his wedding just because I asked so. I don't know what is this weird feeling I get when I thought about this. I admired him more now. He will really do anything for the person he loves.

But, I hurted him in past. He sacrificed many things for me, but I was an asshole to him.

"Hey Idiot! What are you dreaming?" Chi threw the tissue paper ball which distracted me from my thoughts. "Nothing" I smiled but something hurt me inside. "Eat fast, let's go home" he said and I saw the plate. I don't have appetite now.

"You have it. Its too sweet to my liking." I said and he happily got the plate from me.

"Thank you, by the way, your taste sucks" he said eating the cake happily.

"Yeah, I know. You can guess seeing both of my friends. My taste really sucks" I said chuckling and he shrugged it off happily eating his cake.
