Chapter 13: Lips Don't Lie

I need to shift back, but I am not about to have this conversation buck-naked.

I take a few steps behind a thick tree and begin to transform back. I need to get my clothes out of my backpack that I had stored there.

“Hey there. I bet this night has been really confusing for you, but I’m just here to help. I won’t tell anyone about this or you, I promise,” Roxy calls out, almost like she’s coaxing a wild animal out of its habitat.

I debate what to say back to her. Where do I even start?

“What’s your name? Are you hurt? Do you need medical assistance?” I hear her make a few steps closer to me.

I tug on my pants and smooth out my shirt.

“No Roxy, I’m good,” I say back with a tired sigh while rolling my shoulders which always get sore after I shift.

I’m sure my hair is an absolute mess as well.

“Wait, how do you know my first name?” Roxy says.

“Whoa! I didn’t know you’ve both met!” Ramon says, sounding excited.
