The four half-bloods crept through the camp, being cautious in case the guards woke up. They kept their eyes open for the monsters. Ashley mentioned that they were not in the camp, but it didn’t hurt to keep on their toes.
They reached the end of the camp. “Which way to the mountain, Ashley?” Jace asked.
“Follow me. We are going to head left,” Ashley said, taking the lead from Jace.
Ashley lead them through the woods, no sign of the monsters as they pressed forward. She took them through a river, past some burnt trees, through a flower field, and to the bottom of the mountain.
“We are here,” Ashley said. “Now we just have to get to the top.”
Jace, Dream, and June followed Ashley’s finger to the top of the mountain. It was going to be a hard climb. The cliffs didn’t look easy to traverse, there was snow towards the top that would make it difficult to keep their footing, and there were bound to be some monsters along the way to stop them from reaching the top.
