Ashyn joined Maz, Scion, and Rowan outside the scanner.
“That’s the last of you,” Dr. Moses said. “I’m sorry I was forced to do this. It was at the risk of my own job and daughters.”
Alayna glanced at her wrist communicator to fourteen text messages. Dannon was relentless.
“Message to Dannon,” she said into voice text. “I’m on my way home. It’s a long story. It’s been a hard night. There’s hope for the allies, but Bryce has gone berserk.”
She gave her friends a sad smile, and said, “I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
She yawned and made her way into the low lit hallway. She rubbed her eyes and let herself into the living quarters.
“I’m so tired,” she admitted.
“Go to sleep,” he said. “I’ll get up with Austyn if I need to.”
