The world was full of dangers and areas that had been left undiscovered or had been marked as danger zones.
The danger zones had many strong creatures lurking around or a strong individual which ruled over that area.
Some zones could be marked according to their danger level to help exploration or questing groups determine the level of difficulty each area was along with the quest difficulty.
Some larger zones had been taken back by the combined efforts of the humans allied forces and clans but they suffered losses in their combatants as a result so many area were still left unclaimed by humanity after the four hundred years had passed.
The tribe that Inis belonged to were a weaker group which lived secluded away from humans near the mountains and within the caves.
The options available for her was to climb and explore the mountain area or go into the forest to explore there in the hopes of discovering her current location.
Earth had changed over the four hundred years but there would always be some ruins left behind which could help identify the location.
Within the forest there was some movement as a figure was seen running at its fastest speed possible, a slightly larger figure chased behind and was quickly catching up.
The smaller figure became more anxious and frightened until there was suddenly an interference between the two of them.
A rock hit the head of the figure that had been chasing behind which caused it to be slightly disoriented and in pain. "Grrr."
Another similar figure was up in a tree and had a weaved basket on their back which was full of stones.
More stones were removed and were thrown with all the power the Gremlin could muster, while some missed their target they hurt the animal.
The stones being thrown from above created a delaying effect for the beast and distracted it which allowed the other Gremlin to gain some distance.
It turned around and came near a tree where there were a couple of short bone spears which were suited to the small size of the Gremlins.
One was thrown towards the large sized mountain dog which made it yelp in pain after the tip of the bone spear head caused a cut when it flew past and missed the target.
Another Gremlin stood behind a tree and watched the battle go on and then let out a sigh. "No good."
Inis threw out one of her own which landed on target, the bone spear pierced the neck and went in deep enough to cause the wild mountain dog to cry out weakly as blood started to come out from the wound.
It thrashed around a little as the other bone spears and rocks continued to hit it until its struggle ended.
The longer arms of the Gremlins allowed for a better reach and throwing ability so Inis delegated different roles to the two other Gremlins.
One had a task to lure the prey in while using themselves while the others would wait nearby and prepare the ambush.
The tactic would only work to a certain extent because faster beasts would have caught up much sooner before they had stepped into the ambush zone.
The Gremlin had to stay close by and only lure in beasts that were in the area to compensate for the lower running speed and shorter legs.
While thinking about certain roles, Inis needed to first see how they fared in different situations and what suited them best so that they could work better as a team.
Inis had the experience from entering dungeons from four hundred years ago but the newly born Gremlins were weaker than her and still just new borns with no experience so there was a need for them to adjust to their roles and environment.
The mountain dog would have proven to be a challenge for a Gremlin to take down on their own without weapons but it had been unlucky to meet Inis and her group.
Most unarmed groups of Gremlins would have been killed by ordinary monsters or animals without them being able to put up that much of a fight.
If they were lucky enough then they would be able to take it down by using numbers or getting a lucky strike or bite off during the battle which was in a fatal area.
The nails and the teeth of the Gremlins could not be underestimated and especially the bite of a Gremlin could prove fatal if it was given the opportunity to bite onto their opponent.
The matter ingestion innate ability allowed for a stronger stomach and a more powerful bite so even certain metals would be bitten and ingested by an ordinary Gremlin so an ordinary beast was much easier to bite into and tear apart.
The bone spears were removed from the body and Inis looked over towards the two Gremlins. "Kreg…Remli.. come help."
The male Gremlins which had been acting as bait was named Kreg by the old hunchback Gremlin while the female Gremlin had been named Remli.
Among several monsters, there existed many types of humanoid types and some among them had an unknown gender or were gender specific but others were either male or female.
For example goblins, kobolds, orcs and many others had males and females but a siren or banshee would usually mainly be made up of females and it was rare to find a male among them.
While the Gremlins were able to replicate and increase their numbers on their own, their gender was identified by the body shape of them since the females were slightly more curvy compared to the males.
Most other monsters did not have the replication ability so they had to expand their numbers the natural way but the female goblins had a lower chance of giving birth so the males often went to seek out females from other races.
Due to their strong virility and genes, they were able to produce a lot goblins from the females they caught.
Some races had too strong genetics which did not allow for hybrids or the birth of another race among their offspring so while there had been hybrids created around the world from high ranking monsters, demons and beasts with humans, the goblins and some others continued to only produce goblins as their offspring.
Even during the dungeon era, dungeon hunting groups would have to be careful with choosing their group setup because some inexperienced female party members had disappeared and suffered unbearable tortures while the numbers of the monsters in the dungeon started to drastically increase.
When the news had become publicised, many hunters had been glad that many other creatures in the dungeon only had the habit of eating and killing their opponents because it was better than being put through such torment.
Inis had lost a friend to a similar incident and had to put an end to her friends life after she found her location.
Upon entering the dungeon to search for her friend or her remains after she did not return, her friend had been found by her and they already had a large belly, lifeless eyes and begged for to be killed so Inis ended her suffering before massacring everything in that dungeon.
It was a natural thing for the creatures of the dungeons to kill the intruders just like it was natural for the humans to want to kill the creatures inside the dungeon and put an end to the era of dungeons so it was seen as an honourable act to put ones life on the line and die in battle but to be defiled and disgraced caused a lot of rage and resentment towards certain species of the creatures of the dungeons.
Of course, the creatures of the dungeon were not the only ones with their own bad habits or behaviours since many humans did a lot of evil inside the dungeons and outside during that time which would continue on after that era had come to an end.
The death of Inis just at the end of the dungeon era was just a typical example of how cruel and selfish humans could be when faced with their own desires and insecurities while monsters and other creatures just lived according their their natural instincts so some could argue that humans had more potential for evil while others would argue that those that came from the dungeons were more evil.
Two sides were forced to become natural enemies and that hatred would not be washed away as it was carried into the new era but Inis had been reborn on the side of those she had hunted down in that era so it was a weird feeling for her and gave her a new perspective to look from.
Upon returning to the camp, the mountain dog was skinned and dismantled which allowed for new bones to be made into weapons along with many other useful things.
Kreg and Remli sat by the fire as the meat was being cooked with drool hanging down their mouths.
Inis looked over and frowned. "Not done yet. Just a break."
The hunt had only just begun and Inis was not satisfied with a single mountain dog, there were many bigger or more dangerous things out there and she wished to overcome them all. 'There are still none of the things I encountered in the dungeon. Was the system lying when it said that they had begun to show up all around the world four hundred years ago? They cannot be gone already right? Or have the other creatures already taken them and left nothing behind?'
