Day Five #3

Upon scouting the area, Inis came to understand what had been pointed out by Xeni.

There was a large tree that had more than ten fruits hanging from them that contained rich energy within them.

Inis observed the surroundings and retreated stealthily before she could be detected by others in the area.

The large tree was further away from her cave and was a home to many monkey type monsters.

It was not unusual for different creatures to make homes around places that grew resources and the monkeys had made the tree their main habitat.

They had to keep the fruits guarded until the had fully grown and would be in the best state to be eaten.

Once they had fully grown, the energy contained within would be at the best state possible.

If it was picked early then the effects of the fruit would be nowhere near what the fully matured fruit could produce.

Once the fully ripened fruit had been removed from the tree, it needed to be stored away within a proper container to let it keep its effects for longer and to maintain the freshness of the fruit.

Different types of herbs, fruits and other ingredients used to make potions or to help increase a person's power would have a certain amount of time until they started to deteriorate once they were picked.

It was only if someone could replant some of them then had knowledge on how to maintain them was when they could last longer after being taken from their original environment.

It was one of the reasons why storage spaces provided by the system were so crucial or the necessary skill users were needed so that those resources did not get spoiled over time.

Once they had made their way into the hands of an appraiser or potion maker then they could be identified to be safe to consume or to be make into a potion.

There were some people that tested everything that they cane across so they learned through trial and error but many died that way due to consuming something with too much energy or them being too harmful to their body.

Some lucky ones that consumed small amounts gained skills that had been built up through gaining an immunity to the harmful ones.

There were less options without the system but humans must have developed their own ways to maintain the resources efficiency.

Unfortunately, Inis was not a part of them and had not yet encountered those things.

She had to cope with her situation without her system and with a severe lack of useful tools.

She returned to her previous place in front if her own kind and Xeni then said. "Monkeys and fruit.. can only mean.. one thing.."

Xeni knit her brows and asked. "What is it?"

Inis crossed her arms and leaned against a tree. "We wait for… another day… and prepare. Matured fruit… will lure others in."

It was usually when the fruit was reaching full maturity that there would be many others attracted to their location.

Many would attempt to take one for themselves but the monkeys would not allow that.

Inis had seen those that had taken the tree as their home so they would not be so easy to deal with.

It was not their fighting ability but their large numbers and learning ability that were a problem.

They each had robust bodies with arms and legs about the same length, a long tail, brown fur with rounded muzzles in profile with their nostrils on the upper surface.

The monkeys were identified to be a species of macaque or monkey-like gibbon that was associated with the monkey zodiac and a memorable novel that was passed on to later generations so that even Inis had heard of it that was Journey to the West.

The dungeons were places where there were unfamiliar things inside and it was home to familiar things too.

Some myths and legends came alive within there while some other unknown things appeared within.

Those myths and legends helped to gain a slight grasp over those creatures possible abilities but some did not turn out as powerful as they were written.

Those monkeys were among them but that did not mean that they were lacking when it came to battle.

They were known as the Kungfu monkeys for a reason and could learn from their opponents moves then replicate them in combat.

Their physical strength, ability to use tools and to climb played a big role in them being able to keep their living habitat even if there were invaders at times.

Even if Inis had looked down on them, they had survived for a long time where they lived so they would be more difficult to deal with.

Unless Inis had a much larger group then it would be far more difficult to get her hands on a single fruit.

She would not let the chance slip by to help increase her own power and that chance had appeared in front of her thanks to Xeni.

Inis started to leave some markings on the trees nearby that led back to her cave so it could be followed back there then started to use Xeni to find any useful herbs in the area.

The day passed by quickly and Inis had returned again to the cave to add to the collection of weapons and resources that had built up.

She sat with a large amount of herbs then stuffed them into her mouth and swallowed them. "Huh.. nothing."

They were harmful herbs that could cause a range of different effects and Inis had started to consume them more and more each time.

One type of herb had not taken effect within her body until she had consumed a large amount then she started experiencing a slight hallucination effect. "Huh.. this is nothing."

It was important for her to test her limits of her consuming ability and to test how much she could take before it became harmful but it was a requirement for her future survival to push past those limits.

It was best to start as early as possible to begin building up an immunity to anything that could become a problem later.

From her experience with Xeni, Inis had come to understand that her body no longer was the one she had previously that had been through all kinds of experiences.

Her new one lacked the resistances she had gained through building up her immunity over a long time and there were all kinds of poisons and drugs that would be harmful to or influence her.

Even the slightest effects from a Satyr could influence her if she had not been guarding herself and had maintained a firm will.

If Xeni had been more forceful with her then Inis may have had to end her life so that she would not be put under her influence but it had not been allowed to go that far before she stopped it.

If it had been a more powerful Satyr or another type of creature that used similar abilities then her body may not have been able to resist the effects so well even if she did have a stronger mental resistance to them than others.

There was a big imbalance between her body and her mind so Inis needed to fix that.

The day and night went by quickly and many other Gremlins were welcomed into the world as they hatched then joined her little group.

The new recruits were not let off by her and the others so they were put through heavy training and sparring sessions until they dropped down to the ground feeling tired.

The preparations for the next day were being made and the morning soon came for them to take part in the battle.
