Day Thirteen #11

Upon dealing with the threat of the Murgles, Inis looked towards the larger creature that could swallow her tiny body with a single bite.

Her gaze rested on it for some time from a distance before cautiously stepping closer with small and quiet footsteps.

Her body was tensed up like it was prepared to jump into action should any danger present itself.

The closer that she got to the large body, the more cautious she became since the closer she was, the less confident she was in being able to avoid any sudden attack if she dropped her guard for a single moment.

Eventually she got close enough to touch the large serpent and her hand rested on its tough scales pausing there for a moment.

She kept her hand there as if searching for something for some time then she moved her hand away with a smile on her face. 'No signs of life.'

If there was even the slightest remains of life within the serpent then it would have still had some ounce of movement within its body that could be felt by Inis but there was none over the time she checked.

Unless a miracle happened granting it another sudden burst of life that could let it stand up for a short time after its body had already failed it then it had already been confirmed to be dead.

It was dead and no longer posed a threat to Inis so she took out one of her blades approaching its large mouth.

Using her tiny body, she used impressive strength that was far above what her small size should be capable of as she pried open the mouth of the serpent.

The strong stench of blood and death hit her as the serpents large mouth was opened.

She surpassed the feelings of revulsion and kept pushing the mouth wider open.

Inis then used one of the collected landform staffs and spears to be placed inside its mouth.

One was used at first to prevent its mouth from snapping closed then another was grabbed and added until it was stably held open.

She looked at her work of art and sighed. "This is the only way… I cannot wait around here forever."

She knew of the threat of having such a battle take place followed by the strong stench of blood and the Murgle pheromones.

If others were not drawn in by the noise or the scent of blood then it was also a possibility that not all of the Murgles in the area had come from beneath the surrounding waters.

If more came ashore then it was very likely they would be able to find their fallen comrades and will be seeking to avenge them chasing down anyone marked with their strong stench.

In a tried to avoid being marked by their pheromones but she could not be certain if she had avoided it completely so she needed to leave the area after completing her task.

It did not matter if she was marked with the stench upon doing what she planned so long as she quickly achieved her goal and got as far away as possible to deal with such a problem.

Inis crawled inside of the mouth of the dead serpent and continued until she reached the back of its throat.

She rolled over onto her back getting a better position before bringing her blade up against the insides of the back of its head and throat area.

Since there was no tough scales protecting its insides, it was easier to pierce and cut through.

Blood began to spill down onto her from the wound as she dug deeper with her blades until she reached the location she was aiming for.

One blade continued to cut as her hand grasped into and pulled at something inside its body until it had loosened some more.

It was cut around loosening it some more allowing her to pull it free from the body of the dead serpent then she began to crawl out holding the lump of flesh.

Her body was covered in blood that had spilled onto her so she knew that she would become a target for other creatures that could smell her so she climbed out as fast as possible.

Upon crawling out of the mouth of the dead serpent, her tiny body ran covered in blood that soaked her clothes. 'While the blood may be a problem.. at least it had probably helped to cover up whatever pheromones may have gotten on me.'

The strong scent of the larger amount of blood covering her body was more than strong enough to cover any pheromones that may have lingered on her body so she no longer feared any more Murgles going into a frenzy and coming after her.

Their ability to detect their own pheromones was very strong but it was not strong enough to cover a very long distance if it was covered up by a stronger scent.

She grasped the ball shaped piece of flesh in her hand and brought it up to her mouth chewing on it with her sharp teeth as she ran away.

Some pieces of clothing were ripped off that were more heavily covered in blood before being discarded on a nearby branch.

She continued chomping down on the piece of flesh until fluids started to spill out entering her mouth which was gulped down.

While that was happening, she remained cautious as she navigated around the area until she came across a part of the riverside that was further away from where she had been.

She quickly jumped inside very close to the edge which allowed her a fast exit as she dipped her body into the water allowing her to quickly soak in it.

She quickly scrubbed at her body and clothes trying to rid herself of some of the blood and scents on her body before climbing back out before anything in the water was able to get close to her or detect her through the blood that was mixing into the water.
