HEATHER
As we all settled on our assigned seats, dinner was served and just as I was about to start eating, the chair beside me pulled back and I briefly looked up and froze when I saw Roman settling in beside me.
Why is he sitting here?
He got comfortable on his chair and looked at me, his brow raising at me expectantly but I quickly looked away and in front of me where my brother was sitting, watching us closely.
I started eating slowly, trying my very best to ignore the Greek god sitting beside me. I could feel his gaze on me every now and then but I decided it was in my interest to not look his way.
Everyone on our table was talking business or other random stuff that flew over my head, when my name was called out.
"Are you seeing anyone, Heather?" A business partner and friend of Alex's asked me and my head snapped to him and then Alex who was grinning.
"Uh.. not really, no. Does a date next week count?" I said smiling and he chuckled.
"Of course it does. And here I thought you were single." He said and I chuckled lightly.
"Oh I am, for now at least." I said and he smiled, then looked at Alex.
"And has Alexander approved of this boy?" He asked Alex who looked at me momentarily before smiling faintly.
"Yeah. He's a good kid. I know his father personally too." He said and the man nodded.
"Aw man and here I thought I had a chance with her." He said frowning and I laughed at him and Alex chuckled, shaking his head.
"You'd be six feet under before you could even ask her out. I'd make sure I'd it." He said looking at the man in question and I rolled my eyes.
"No need to get all protective papa-bear Xander." I said and he frowned while the others laughed.
"I'm just looking out for you Heath, you wouldn't look at these sickos twice after I tell you what they do." He said pointing to his friends who frowned at him.
"They're your friends." I said and everyone chuckled.
"Let the girl live her life. She could do with one less protective man after her father Alexander. Although I have a feeling you're worse than John." A man with greying hair said and Alex and I both chuckled.
"Oh you have no idea what he's done." I said and everyone leaned in to listen.
"Pray tell, what has this man pulled?" Lawrence asked me putting his elbows on the table and looking at me intently with a mischievous grin.
I sipped my wine while everyone waited for me to speak.
"He once scared off a guy I had a crush on by sending him some very embarrassing photos I was not proud off, and anyone I was remotely interested in, he'd do a whole background check on them and give me their whole life's details." I said and Lawrence chuckled.
"You are worse than John. Let her breathe will you?" The man said to Alex who shrugged.
"I can't see her hurt, no matter how strong she is, and she is strong, I can't let her get hurt. And that guy you crushed on was a scaredy cat. He couldn't even take such simple photos and ran off screaming." He replied and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah right." I said stabbing my food with my fork.
"And you're fine with the guy who's taking her out?" The man who was Alex's friend asked again, and I just find out, his name was Liam.
"Yeah, he's a good kid." Alex replied sipping his wine and I shook my head.
"Do you like him back though?" Liam asked me when I felt hand on my thigh. I subtly looked at it and saw the familiar tattooed fingers.
My breath got caught in my throat as I forced a smile to my face and nodded.
"I do. We've been talking for a few days now and he's really nice. He's definitely different from other guys I've met so I'm willing to give him a chance." I said and felt the grip on my thigh tighten considerably.
What's his problem?
I glanced at Roman briefly without raising suspicion and saw him eating quietly but his jaw was clenched tightly as if he was forcing himself to eat.
His warm touch sent jolts of electricity up my body and I tried my very best to ignore the tingling feeling and instead concentrate at the people around me.
"That's good, but what do you mean by other guys you've met?" He asked me raising his eyebrow and I noticed Alex had sat up straighter and was now looking at me intently, urging me to go on.
"Well, they're usually just looking for a lay. They're the fuck and dump kind of guys." I say as the hand on my thigh starts moving higher and into the slit of my dress.
This isn't good.
I cleared my throat and continued.
"You know, the kind of guys who kiss you and make you believe you're the most important person to them when in reality, all they want is a good fuck. And they're manipulative too. Add a big ego and a hell load of confidence to that list." I say and the hand on my thigh now moved higher.
Roman's hand squeezed my thigh and went higher until it was close to my inner thigh, and slowly pinched it, making me help and jump up slightly.
"You okay Heath?" Alex asked me and I forced a believable smile at him.
"Yup, all good." I said as Lawrence and Liam chuckled.
"You just described a typical bad boy in the making but for reason I'm sure they aren't always the one at fault." Lawrence said glancing at me meaningfully and I shrug.
"What can I say, I've got a thing for bad boys." I say and everyone chuckled as Roman's hand suddenly grazed my lacy panties and on instinct, my hand quickly covered his to stop him moving.
I press onto his hand as a warning and try to shove him away but he doesn't budge and instead one of his fingers hooks around the band of my panties.
"Although they can get really clingy, and all I want is for them to take their hands off of me." I gritted out and Alex frowned while Roman smirked, understanding what I was saying.
"Did anyone touch you?" Alex asked me scanning my face.
"I'll let you know when they do because this is getting very inappropriate for a place like this so hands OFF." I hissed and heard Roman chuckle darkly.
"What if they don't want to?" Roman spoke suddenly, twisting the band of my panties round his finger and I huffed, trying to take his hand off as discreetly as I could.
"Well I'm not really a fan of PDA so they can go fuck themselves for all I care as long as their hands stay to themselves." I say and suck in a deep breath.
"What if they don't want to keep their hands to themselves?" He said expressionlessly and I rolled my eyes, grasping his hand firmly and shoving it off of me this time and glaring at him head on.
"Well then I'm sure they can arrange for someone to get them spare hands because they'll be leaving without them." I gritted out and he chuckled and everyone around us looked at us confused.
"Sure. Will do." He drawled out lazily and gave me a brief look full of mischief before continuing to eat.
"Damn that guy better watch out." Liam breathed out and I smirked.
"He better. Our Heather can get really aggressive sometimes. Like how she broke a guy's nose and broke his friends hand too when they tried flirting with her." Alex said looking at me proudly and I chuckled.
"They were really bad at flirting and tried touching me, and in a grocery store to top it off where people were clearly watching. They had it coming." I said taking another bite of my food.
The evening went on like this and surprisingly, I enjoyed it quite a lot. Well most of it at least. When we were leaving, Alex's friends came to say goodbye to us.
"Where's dad? Haven't seen him all evening." I asked Alex who sighed.
"He ran off with his old friends and let me do all the fun business stuff." He said sarcastically and I chuckled, taking hold of his arm as we walked outside and spotted dad outside with three men his age laughing at something.
"There they are! Did you have fun?" Dad asked us as we approached them and Alex rolled his eyes.
"Thanks for having my back in there dad." Alex said sarcastically and dad laughed at him.
"Oh come on, let an old man have some fun every now and then." He said and we all laughed at him.
"Are we leaving?" Dad asked Alex who nodded and from the corner of my eye, I noticed Roman and Enzo walking over to us.
Alex turned around to face them as he saw them too and they stopped right in front of us.
"Thank you for coming Mr. Elias." Enzo said shaking dad's and Alex's hand and then giving me a subtle wink.
Roman did the same and when he came to me, he held out his hand and I eyed it warily before grasping it firmly, showing my displeasure with my eyes and the grip I had on his hand.
His lips twitched slightly before I pulled my hand back but his gaze didn't leave mine.
"I'll wait till I see you next Ms. Elias." He said, making me scoff.
"Wish I could say the same Mr. Angelo." I said and saw him smirk slightly as my car's door was opened and shooting him one last look, I got in my seat and slammed the car door, breathing in relief as we started to drive away from the large hotel.
"Everything okay? You look… tired.." Alex said and I nodded.
"Yeah just a lot of work. But I'll be fine, don't worry." I told him and he nodded and kissed my forehead.
"I know." He said and I looked out the window, letting the changing views outside lead me to a restless sleep and dream of a certain green eyed devil.
I just entered a game I couldn't play.
But I wasn't going down just yet.
