“Amber, I need to talk to you about something,” Sophie says urgently, “It’s something that I think you should know about. I hate to tell you bad news, but I need you guys to be safe.” 


I’m surprised to find Sophie on my doorstep this morning. She usually calls before stopping by, but I certainly don’t mind. And it must be serious if she came right over instead of calling beforehand. 


“Come in,” I tell her, anxious about what it might be, “I have some things to tell you about too. I'm really glad you’re here!” 


As she comes in, the twins greet her by making their stuffed animals float toward her. Sophie has grown used to this unusual welcome, and smiles, waving to them both. They wave back, and continue to make their toys soar around the room. 


“You know, that’s actually a really nice way to say hello,” Sophie muses, watching Toby’s bear dance, “Hey, that dancing is new, isn’t it? He just used to make it fly.”
