Chapter 31: Remembering VI

This wasn't helping. Frustrated and bitter, I pulled away from the memory of Minerva and I sleeping together. Every moment I was in here was a moment I wasn't spending protecting the real princess--not just my recollection of her.

I had already been under too long. If brute force of will didn't work, and following my memories didn't work, what would? I thought hard, trying to piece together a solution. Something had sent me under. Perhaps it could wake me up as well.

What had she said to me? Minerva had said: "Remember, remember what I have told you to forget."

What had she told me to forget? A great many things, apparently. My past as a criminal, our relationship together, nearly everything about my life prior to meeting her. Given the sheer quantity of what the Imperative had hidden from me, it was no wonder my mind felt this scrambled.

But there it was. When exactly had she asked me to forget? Why? Those were the questions I needed to answer.
