Push vs Pull Part 2

Crowds of us pour out of the casino. My clouded vision gets darker with the lights of the surrounding venues turning off one by one.

"Damn, now the whole block is on lockdown!" One of the casino attendees complains.

Every passing pedestrian is a blur to me. My chest tightens and air is having a harder time passing through my lungs but my legs continue to pick up the pace. Though, I have no idea where they are taking me. Police cars and Paramedic trucks pass me by. My legs move faster, perhaps on autopilot. Perhaps it's my processor sending signals to bring me to safety. Is there anywhere that's truly safe though? Is there any part of this place that can't be turned into a danger zone?

"Moonlight!" My legs stop abruptly, causing me to stumble before quickly catching myself. Rashaad's smile glows in the now darkened street. He pulls up next to me. My chest stops fighting the air and allows it to fully reach my lungs.

I hop into the backseat.
