Dorne - Sunspear

Eragon Targaryen

----

"Huh?" I ask confused about what she means, Shiera and Rhaenyra only rarely sleep in here so they don't always sleep anyway. Danny always sleeps like that though, like one of the cats I used to have to catch when learning to water dance.

"We will." Shiera answers her with certainty and I feel like I missed something critical, is she talking about how they are dressed?

"I-I see." She pulls a piece of meat off the tray and sets it Infront of Vhagar. ""Fire."" The dragon who was patiently waiting spits his pink fire with white veins and toasts the meat quickly.

"Does that weird you out?" Shiera feeds Tessarion and Balerion as she continues talking with Visenya.

Visenyas brow scrunches up and she looks at Shiera oddly.

"No, I was just wondering..." She tosses a piece to Meraxes and peeks over her shoulder and catches me watching her. I smile and nod to which she smiles back before looking back at Shiera. "I don't have a problem with that, it was just curiosity." Shiera hums a response but seems a bit happier.

"Don't forget to wash off your hands this time." I turn back to Rhaenyra and Syrax, she touched the raw meat and then went and got dressed last time and the smell got on her clothes. The dragons kept trying to climb her and find what the smell was coming from and they tore up her dress.

"I know, I don't need them ripping up any more of my clothes." She rolls her eyes as she runs a finger over Syrax's head and her eyes are full of joy as the dragon pushes into her finger.

"Where is Rhaenys?" Daenerys asks from where she is feeding Meleys.

"She could come in any moment or she could be asleep, I don't know but I did go by her room on the way to see if she was up and she was sleeping soundly. I woke her and she said she was going to get dressed and head over but she didn't say it would be right now so it could be in a while." Arrax quickly finishes his food off and I get up to clean my hands so they won't smell and get me nipped by one of the dragons.

Looking at them though it's hard for my own eyes to tell but if before they were kittens then now they are getting closer to cats. They stay stuffed with food so it is a bit hard to tell what's them and what's the meal they had but I believe they are growing pretty quickly.

It only ignites a fire in me to quickly come up with and execute a plan to get us to a place I won't have to worry as much. If word gets out or already has then people will send assassins out to kill them while they are small and easily killed. Once they are the size of a horse or bigger it will mainly be too late so long as the dragon doesn't do anything stupid. That or I don't do anything stupid like chain them down in a place where peasants can storm the area and kill the dragons while they can hardly defend themselves.

I always feel a bit angry at my ancestors for making the dragon pit but they had good intentions, but poorly executed. I still haven't decided what I plan to do for the 'dwelling' of the dragons once they are bigger but it won't involve jailing them.

A problem with that though is some people may set out to be dragon slayers and learn the patterns of where the dragons go hunting and whatnot and set an ambush of some sort. When the dragons are big enough their scales will be able to deflect even metal bolts from scorpions like during the burning of Dorne.

They took down Meraxes and queen Rhaenys with a lucky shot in the eye that caused the dragon to fall and thrash on the ground and kill itself. According to the stories at least, but as of now, and rubbing the scales of the babies it doesn't feel capable of even stopping an arrow from a bow let alone anything higher power.

"What are you so in thought about?" I turn to see Visenya cleaning her hands and her curious purple eyes look into my own.

"The future of the dragons and making sure no one can shoot them down with an arrow before they get big enough to deal with petty archers." Her eyes widen a bit and I wonder if this is a good time to tell her about my plan to leave, I decided to talk to Prince Doran about it but not yet. I would like to think she will keep it to herself until I am ready to talk about my plans with Doran.

"What do you have in mind?" She looks over her shoulder at where some chirps are coming from and smiles softly.

"Probably going to a place where we can hide them for a time, I have an idea but I also need to plan it out a bit better." She looks back at me as she starts to dry her hands off on a towel and she sniffs them.

"So you will leave again?" She asks somewhat reluctantly as she looks over at Vhagar.

"Well ideally it would be WE are leaving but yes that is my plan so far, Sunspear is one of the safest places in Westeros but it's still in Westeros and lots of people fear the return of dragons. Some are even in Dorne itself and would rather the time of dragons burning fields and castles stay dead." I do not doubt that as one of the biggest victims of dragon fire that there are some Dornish that wouldn't like the idea of dragons coming back. Most would see it as good for them since Princess Arianne married Viserys but once they know Viserys himself doesn't have one that will change.

They will see the current heir to Viserys having a dragon and worry about me starting a civil war after the reclaiming of the throne so I could take it. I wouldn't be surprised if some even made attempts at my life with poison sometime soon. According to Melisandre, I should be fine but I still haven't tested that and am interested in seeing how right she is.

Tyene Sand is a master at poisons and I wonder if I asked her to help me get some for myself to drink would she rat me out for trying to commit suicide? She would probably just ask to watch though.

"We?" She asks with a confused tone.

"We, as in you coming with us as the bond to Vhagar I am sure he would be more troublesome if he was separated long-term. We have no idea how he would react after not seeing you or sensing you are far away using the bond. He might decide to try to fly back to you and if he does and gets tired while flying over the ocean he will likely drown to death." Her mouth goes slightly agape as she grabs my arm and shakes it.

"You want to take me out of Sunspear?" Both a hint of fear and excitement are present in her tone and her look goes from confusion to wonder as she pleads for an answer.

"Yes, but I won't do it if it will piss off Doran and your mom. I don't want to be an enemy of Dorne and the North." I wonder how the north feels about her, I am sure they have heard at least something. Maybe some are clueless but there are certainly some who know of her existence, what is their opinion of her?

"My mom would be hard to convince but it might be fine... she wants to take a trip to the north and I wanted to go but she was hesitant to take me. No one can do anything to her as she is Stark and belongs in the north, but I am different I am not a stark but a Targaryen." We slowly walk back over to the table and sit as her mood takes a turn for the worst.

"What's wrong with being a Targaryen?" I ask slightly offended but only making a show of it as I know she didn't mean anything by the comment.

"Huh?" She looks up and sees me 'upset' and shakes her head quickly. "I didn't mean anything by it I was just saying I might be part Stark but the north isn't my home. Uncle Benjen tells me about the north all the time, he misses it but he won't go back until Lyanna is also returning. He said it just doesn't feel like home without her there and won't leave her somewhere far off on her 'own'." I nod in approval, it is one of the things eating at me about leaving as I don't think mom or Shaena will go and I know Viserys won't.

"Smart man, family sticks together or they won't make it long. No one like your own blood will look out for you and make sure you are fine." She catches on to me not actually being upset at her 'insult' and glares shortly before laughing.

"Uncle Benjen said something similar but in northern terms, 'When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives' I like that saying quite a bit." It is indeed a good saying, I wonder who she considers her pack.

"I like that, it's simple and gets the point across with no room for misinterpreting." She nods and we soon are joined by the rest as they seemed to finish feeding and cleaning. "Who do you consider in your pack?" I smile as she seems caught off guard by the question and looks thoughtful.

"I would say mom and Uncle Benjen along with Morgana are obvious choices and then Rhaenys and Aegon with Elia are pretty obvious as well. Aunt Ashara is a part of the pack and a few of the sand snakes. I would like to say Grandma Rhaella and a few others but it doesn't feel right to say it just yet." Shiera puts on a hurt and betrayed look as she sniffs and draws Visenyas attention.

"We aren't even a part of her pack.." I hold back a laugh at her trying to dig at Visenya but Visenya takes it in a different direction than I expected.

"Well if you want in my pack you have to interact with me more and not stay cooped up in the library or your room reading. I am almost certain Morgana would consider you a part of her pack but that's because you two melt into the books together so easily." Shieras fake hurt turned into real hurt as she pats her chest.

"Ok, I know I have been busy reading all the new books but I also made efforts to get to know you when we are around each other. You like horse riding and prefer a sword to a spear even though you can use both. You learned how to fight from both Prince Oberyn Martell and your Uncle Benjen after you finally convinced him. You said that he finally taught you how to use a sword so you wouldn't be 'spirited away' like Lyanna to which your mother insisted she ran with him and wasn't snatched." Shiera continues to go on and on about things she remembered about Visenya which surprises the girl but we get interrupted by a knock on the door.

"We are not interested!" I shout when I see the door crack open on its own and a still drowsy-looking Rhaenys walks into the room after closing the door behind her.

"I didn't bring anything for you anyway, I came to see Meraxes." Rhaenyra laughs at me getting smacked down ruthlessly by my niece. ""You look good again today Meraxes.""

The dragon in question likely only barely understands she is getting complimented but still preens when Rhaenys starts to pet her neck and back.

"Are we going to get breakfast at some point?" Danny asks as she holds her stomach with a pitiful look.

"Sure, let's go eat, and afterward I need to have a 'talk' with my niece." Rhaenys waves me off as I direct the last of my sentence toward her.

Practicing the spear with her has helped a lot, Nata was the only one who used to help me and Rhaenys has taken up the job in her absence. Though they fight completely differently and I wonder which would win in a fight.

"What?" Rhaenys raises a brow as I contemplate a fight with her versus Nata.

"Nothing, I need to talk to you and your sister once we finish eating so let's get it over with and head back here before we practice today." She nods and puts Meraxes back down and the dragon flops on its stomach and looks ready to sleep.

"Alright, let's go then." I stand up and head for the door but Rhaenys cuts me off as she was closer. "Get dressed." She rolls her eyes.
