72. The Witch

Everyone stiffened at the mention of the name "Warrior 0", they didn't know how to react but like that. Aisha noticed the discomfort they were in and the drastic change in the atmosphere. Thanks to that, she decided to keep going with her questions.

"I ask, and those who know the answers, answer" she gazed at them coldly before she breathed in and started with the first one, "Why did you flinch at the mention of that name?"

"Because that person is nothing but bad news for us"

"Why?"

"Because they're like a saint, blessed with God's gifts"

"Which God?"

"It depends on the chosen warrior"

"The chosen warrior you say?" Aisha mumbled and sat in silence for a few minutes before she grabbed the cup of tea and started sipping. After three sips, she put the cup back in place and kept going with her questions, "what about being the chosen one? How is it related to this matter? No, how is a human able to have such sacred powers?"

"We don't exactly know, master"

"But THEY know" one whispered to not let Aisha hears them but she did, and her eyes turned to them, "eep! I- I'm sorry" the woman who whispered before bowed down on her knees, "I- I-"

"Who did you mean by 'THEY'?" When she looked up at Aisha, she started trembling and cold sweat formed on her forehead and hands, "i- It's, it's th- The witch"

"The witch?" Aisha's glares became colder as she eyed everyone. They all flinched and started trembling, even some of them asked each other how they could forget such a person exists, "th- The witch i- Is, uhm-"

"General Hayden, report" Hayden's body started to tremble and his mind started to get lost in its place, he almost fainted if Aisha didn't snap her fingers and repeat her request but a bit nicer, "ye- Yes, master. The witch is one of the few survivors of the disaster that occurred hundreds of years ago. She was first discovered in the same era as lady Ophelia"

"The Elizabethan?"

"Exactly. She was a commoner, or that's what the rumors had said. Others said she existed even before and was from a rich family, but everything went down to hell after the church's strength grew bigger and stronger. Again, that's what the rumors said"

"What about the witches?"

"Pardon?"

"The three witches who served the first Dark Mana master, destruction, misfortune, and death" once again, everyone flinched and the atmosphere around them became cold, Aisha rose an eyebrow before she turned her attention back to Hayden who was biting his lower lip from stress.

"Those three-" The man in armor started, "- We must never mention them because they bring nothing but bad news"

"I want to know if they're connected to the witch you all talk about" everyone shook their heads and looked at Aisha with mysterious expressions on their faces.

"The witch we're talking about is far more loyal than those hand-biters" the man in armor grumbled making the ground beneath them shake. Aisha picked up her cup of tea and took another sip before biting down a spoon of cake, "and?" She turned her attention back to Hayden who was also looking at her with the very same mysterious expression.

"Those three witches betrayed their master and let him die alone, while the witch we're talking about has been loyal to us ever since the priests controlled everything" his expression remained the same and his words were like poison to the listener. Aisha swallowed every single word he said and exhaled the breath she was holding all this time.

They never fail to scare her, even after she put them in place.

"And where is this witch now?" Hayden turned to look at everyone who was worried about Aisha from her and maybe the other way around.

"She... Is residing in America... As a fortune-teller"

"Come forth and let ME tell you what hides in your future. What hides inside you"
