Marriage In A Month

The headache that struck the moment Marissa opened her eyes made her close it again. The ray of light that was coming in through her curtain just now telling her that it was already morning.

Realising something, she opened her eyes hastily. Morning! Work! She turned to her right to look at the small yellow clock on her dressing table to check the time. Eight in the morning. She was doomed.

Hurriedly wanting to get up, a hand suddenly pulled her back to the bed. Totally surprised by that action, Marissa shouted.

"Blake?" Her rounded eyes were confused when she saw him by her side. 'When did he come?' But that did not surprise her enough. The moment her eyes landed on his naked upper body, she shouted once again. She got up and pulled the pillow that he was sleeping on. It made him open his eyes right away.

"Sleep some more, you have a night shift today." He casually said those words and closed his eyes once again.

Biting her lips, Marissa's heart beat so fast it could even jump out from her chest. "Get up! Get up!" She smacked him with the pillow over and over again to make him get up.

"Ouch! You are hurting me…what is it? What happened?" He stopped her by getting up and holding her hand.

Marissa felt like crying but then suddenly remembered something. She looked down on her body and saw she was on her nightgown. "Did we…" She stopped, her eyes were now welling.

"What is it? Why are you crying? Tell me…is it still hurt?" He checked on her head, thinking of the slapping that the bitch gave her yesterday.

But for Marissa, she thought he was referring to something else. 'Hurt?' She actually tried to check if she was hurt anywhere. They said the first time it was going to hurt so much but she couldn't feel anything down there. "No!"

"Then why are you crying?" He asked.

The stupid question came with a slap on his head. "You are asking me why am I crying? Are you serious…" She couldn't finish her words and covered her face.

Blake's blank stare remained a few seconds on Marissa, "Is it about yesterday?" He was once again misunderstood. He thought she was talking about his secret. "I told you, I am sorry. I will be responsible for what has been done."

She cried louder hearing his words. "Why did you do that?"

Blake pulled her closer, "Do you really don't know why am I doing this?"

She raised her head and the tears were all over her face, "No!"

"Because I love you." Blake confessed unexpectedly.

Marissa was obviously shocked with the sudden confession and the room was quiet for some moment.

They stared at each other without uttering a word until Marissa broke it, "What do you mean by that?"

"It is what it is." He answered without explaining further.

"No no no…" She was confused as hell at that moment. What just happened in one night? She drank with Jane after work then rode a bus back. The thing she recalled next was…none! She blacked out and here they were waking up to each other in the morning.

Stepping down the bed, she couldn't digest anything at that moment.

"Wait…" Blake stopped him by holding her hand. He also stepped down from the bed to get to her.

"What?!" She was supposed to be mad but her eyes couldn't stop ogling over his body was now being served in front of her. "Why are you only in your boxers?!" She yelled and covered her eyes immediately when she came into realisation.

Blake smiled and crossed his arms. "I don't have anything else to wear, don't you remember?"

"Why don't you have anything to wear?" She removed her hand as she got annoyed but then covered them again when that thing caught her eyes once again. "God! Please cover yourself!"

"Why should I?" He smirked, found it fun teasing her. "Well, it just means it is healthy."

"Blake!" She shouted with her eyes still covered.

"What? Will you stay like that if I stay naked?" He found an idea.

"Please…go and get dressed." Marissa was half begged.

Shaking his head even though Marissa didn't look at him, he said, "Promise me something first…"

"What is it?" She sighed.

"Promise that you will agree to it first." The smile on Blake's lips widened.

She thumped her legs feeling dissatisfied. "That is unfair. How can I promise on something that I didn't even know yet?"

"Well…" Blake walked forward, teasing her more.

Marissa was nervous, she could hear his voice getting closer, "Don't come! Stop there!" She held out her hand with her eyes closed. Even that looked cute in Blake's eyes.

"Promise me first." Another step forward.

"Okay, okay! I promise you I will agree to whatever nonsense you are going to spit out." She was so angry but couldn't do anything else except to accept to any stupid condition Blake was going to make.

"Let's get married in a month."

Instantly opened her eyes, she looked at him at the stalemate. "I…" She paused, gulping her saliva down. "I don't understand."

"We will get married in a month." He repeated the same sentence to make her digest them properly.

"No, we can't!" She turned and wanted to go out but Blake pulled her closer to him.

"Why? Why can't we?" His blood started to boil.

"Your grandma hates me!" She dropped the bomb. The heaviness that she felt that time that she couldn't let out, she intended to pour them all out. "She offered me money like I am a beggar and do you think I don't have any pride?"

Blake kept his mouth closed for a few moments before caressing her cheek gently, "I promised that it will not happen again. No one can step on you no matter what."

Her clear eyes were looking at him searching for honesty. "And why is that?"

"I told you just now…I love you." Perhaps she was too shocked just now, she couldn't grasp his confession properly, so he repeated it once again.

"Since when?" Her confused eyes were shaky.

"I will tell you everything later." He said, brushing her hair with his hand.

"When?" She felt like he needed to know everything at that moment, not later.

"When you are calming down." Blake said. His eyes were looking at her gently.

"I am!" She was mad. So mad that Marissa felt like she was a volcano that was going to erupt soon.

"No, you are not." Blake's thumb rubbing onto her trembling lips. He shouldn't have that dirty thought when they were in this kind of situation, but he did. He felt like lifting her up and bringing her to the bed at that very moment. "Go and take a bath first."

"I don't want to!" Marissa pushed his hand out of anger.

"Go, or you will be my breakfast this morning." Blake's face looked so serious saying those words it made Marissa take a step back.
