Unresolved Emotions

The room fell into silence, the weight of Blake's words hanging in the air. Marissa's mind was racing, and her heart felt heavy with conflicting emotions. She had come here seeking closure, but she couldn't understand why Blake's words hurt her so deeply.

"I... I want to ask you something," Marissa stammered, trying to calm herself.

"What is it?" Blake's tone was a bit distant, lacking the softness he had used before when trying to persuade her to get back together.

"Ah…" Marissa rubbed her palms with her thumbs, trying to find the right words to begin her inquiry. "Hmm, can I get a glass of water first…" She swallowed hard, feeling her nerves getting the better of her.

Blake immediately stood up, asking, "Just a glass of water?"

Marissa nodded, "Yes, just plain water."

Heading to the door promptly after receiving Marissa's answer, Blake left the room to get her water.
