She was a bit scared, but she went over to open the door. If the person outside were really up to no good, he would not have a problem with the door, so she decided to open it.
"Why are you here so early?" Whitney was surprised to see her friend at the door.
"I was worried about you," Natalie replied as she walked in. Whitney stepped outside for her to enter.
"I am fine," Whitney was very touched. Natalie was indeed a good friend. She had come all the way just because she called the previous night.
"Any news?" Natalie asked in concern. She knew her friend was like a mother hen. Without news, she would not be at peace.
"My father's Friend that I told you about said she would be back," Whitney replied. When she said this, Whitney did not look happy. It was as though she was talking about a death sentence.
"What kind of news is that? Would she be alright? Did he say when?" Natalie felt that this piece of news was too strange. Moreover, she was clear about Whitney's attitude.
"He does not know if she will be fine, but she will be alive and arrive before the day ends," Whitney said. She felt her head hurting. She wished she could turn the hand of time. She would never have allowed Gracey ro attend the party.
Maybe if they had kept a low, pitiful profile, they would not have continued to attract the devil's attention.
"this is crazy? How can a human act like this?" Natalie said. Many people hated the devil, but they couldn't do anything about him.
"Human? Have you forgotten why he is called the devil? This was my fault. I should not have let Gracey attend the party. After all, we should be looking for his money. How can Gracey still dare to party?" Whitney said. She felt that only a few days after she promised to take care of her siblings, she had already failed.
" This is not your fault. We both know that Gracey would not have listened to you even if you tried to stop her, " Natalie said. She could not believe that her friend had turned into a mother of a teen when she was a child herself.
"How can I forgive myself if something happened to her," Whitney ignored Natalie. She knew that the two of them had different views about her behaviour.
"Stop doing this to yourself. You are so young. This is Gracey's decision to attend the party. You had no way of knowing that this would happen," Natalie argued.
Whitney stopped speaking after all, she knew her friend would not listen. The two stayed quiet for some time." sister Natalie, " Kelly, who finished brushing and changing his clothes, called out when he saw her there.
Although his voice was a bit excited, he was disappointed. He had heard the knock on the door, so he changed as fast as possible, hoping that Gracey was back.
" Hey, how is my little brother doing," Natalie said and hugged the boy. Kelly was obedient and sat down after the hug.
He noticed that his sister was unsure of her answers earlier, so he did not ask when Gracey would return.
The three stayed together for a while before Natalie offered to make breakfast for Kelly. She knew that Whitney would not be in the mood.
Whitney was grateful to see her friend help her so much. Just then, her phone rang. Whitney looked at it. The number was not saved, and it did not look familiar.
She picked up the call without any hesitation. Things had gotten to this point. She could only brace herself up and deal with it.
"Hello, this is Sandra. I wanted to know if Gracey had returned," Sandra inquired. Her voice was filled with concern. The truth was that she just wanted to clear her name. Otherwise, many people would not attend her birthday party next year.
"No," Whitney replied. The police insisted that there was a chance she went out on her own, so a case file for her could only be opened after twenty four hours.
"Those police are something else, I spoke to a few of my friends, and it seems she was a bit drunk last night. Maybe she was tricky by someone to leave with her," Sandra said. Anyway, it was not strange for some people to be scheme against by those bad boys.
"I hope she returns safe," Whitney replied. She knew what Sandra said was not the case, but she also thought this could be a reasonable explanation if Gracey returned later. After all, the effort she put in before would become a waste if the news of what happened to Gracey should spread.
"I hope so, too," Sandra said and hung up the call. She did not want her party to be remembered for the wrong thing that happened to Gracey, so she was hoping she would return on her own.
"Whitney, come and have a bite," Natalie said. She and Kelly had finished making breakfast. She prepared a small portion for Whitney, as her dumb friend might not eat the whole day.
"I am not hungry," Whitney shook her head.
"Is that so? What did you eat last night?" Natalie raises her brows. Whitney bit her lips. She really could not lies to her friend. Yesterday she was worried because of her deal with her manager, so she did not eat well.
"Just have a small bite. Someone has to take care of Kelly, right?" Natalie reason. Whitney still did not make a move. "If you fall sick, who would take care of Kelly? Your father's friend already said she would be alive. Given her weak body, you would need to care for her, but how will you do it if you are sick? You can not change what already happened, but you should prepare your next action, " Natalie felt that she had used up all her sliver. Fortunately, Whitney finally walked to the small table to eat.
After only two bites, Whitney dropped her spoon." Thank you, " She said and prepared to get up." you should eat some more. Dad said it is wrong to skip meals," Kelly said before Natalie could think of how to make her eat more.
Whitney had no choice but to force the food on her plate into her stomach. She did not want her little brother to worry about her
