ALANA

ALANA'S POV

*In the forbidden forests*

"Alana snap out of it!" My mother says shaking me awake from the trance I was just in. I have never had a vision before.

"I think I just got a vision Mom." Her eyes grow wide at my statement.

"But you're not a seer. You're a nature witch. How can you get a vision?" She questions.

"I have no idea mom but that's what it felt like. It felt like a pull, it felt so real." I say still shivering from what I just saw.

"Come on. If there's anyone who can explain, it's the supreme witch."

She grabs my hand quickly and leads us out of our little house. Far into the forbidden forests is where the witches and some humans who have escaped tyranny live. We've been here for decades, too scared to meet the cruelty of the outside world. Everything is simple for us in here.

We live in peace. The witch supreme created a boundary. Only humans and witches can come in and out of these forests. She said it was to protect us from the vampires and werewolves.

My mom would tell me stories about how the vampires massacred almost all the witches and that's why they had to flee. That's why they had to stop protecting humans. Fear.

I can't imagine how cruel it must be for the humans living outside these walls. We are cowards for leaving them out there to fend for themselves.

This vision I just had felt hopeful. But it had two sides and I have no idea which is real.

"What did you see child?" The supreme witch questions me as I stand in front of her in her temple.

"There was a girl with bright red hair. I saw her defeat the vampires and werewolves. She was standing above their heads. Her bright red hair had an almost fiery look. She freed the humans. But in the other part of the vision, there was blood, so much blood. The girl with bright hair was dead, along with so many others. It was awful."

A tear breaks free as I remember the other part.

"A vision with two sides featuring the same person." The supreme witch says.

"What does this mean? After all this time, is this our hope?" I ask with a shaky voice.

"This means nothing. There can be no conclusion from what you saw. It had two sides. We will simply ignore it." She says shocking me.

"But aren't you at least curious to find out why the spirits showed me this. We have three seers here in the forbidden forest yet it is I who got a vision. If there's a chance to end all this, don't you think we should take it?" I question.

"And how exactly would we go about that child?"

"We are witches. If we combined our powers, we can ask the spirits more. They can show us more and possibly explain to us what it is they were trying to show me. Maybe there is a way to end all of this. Maybe the girl from my vision is the key. If we help her, she might be victorious like the vision showed me. But if we don't, then the other part of the vision might happen instead." I insist getting a little bit irritated from the nonchalant look on her face.

"Don't you see child? Don't you see how risky it is? We don't have enough power to perform a spell like that. The power we have is to keep the barrier up. We have very few witches left. Performing a spell to communicate with the spirits needs an intense amount of energy and we don't even have enough witches to carry it out."

"But they showed this to us. That means they want to communicate with us. If we reached out to them then…."

"Enough child!" She yells interrupting me.

"If this red haired girl is real, then where is she?"

"That's what we need to find out." I answer.

"My job is to protect the people of the forest. So I will hear nothing more of this vision of yours. We are done here."

She dismisses me.

She's not even the slightest bit curious?

***********************************************************************************************

'Alanaaaaa' I hear a voice whisper my name as I lay in bed. I jerk out of bed and look around my room. Sweat forming around my forehead.

"Who's there?" I whisper.

'She'll be here soon Alana. She will need your help. Wait for her. When she gets here, we will show you what to do.' The strange voice from nowhere says again.

I jerk up from bed realizing I was dreaming. But it didn't feel like a dream. It feels like I just got another message. It has to be about the red-haired girl. It must be about her. The voice said to wait for her and that she needs my help.

That means she'll be here soon, in the forbidden forests. But how will a simpleton like me be able to help her? And what am I even supposed to help her with?

Given how the supreme witch reacted last time, it's no use bringing this news to her. I'll just have to prepare myself for the red-haired girl's arrival. I have to be patient as the voice said.

I have no idea what these visions mean but if it is what I think it is, then there might be hope for us. To get out of these forests and live freely. Free from the tyranny of those horrible creatures.

But my vision had two sides. She either saves us or she dies along with thousands of others. Right now I just want to be optimistic. I want to look at the bright side. So, I'll focus on the good part of the vision, the one where she defats the vampires and werewolves.

Still in thought, I fall to my knees and start praying to the spirits. I ask them to send me more visions. I ask them to grant me the power I would need to help this girl when she finally arrives.
